Tony Williams (English Musician)
Anthony Williams (born 19 August 1947) is an English musician who played bass guitar in the folk rock/rock band Stealers Wheel and who also played with Jethro Tull. Career Born in Durham City, he later moved to Blackpool, Lancashire where other future band members of Jethro Tull also lived including, Ian Anderson, Barriemore Barlow, John Evan and Jeffrey Hammond. In the 1960s he played guitar with The Executives, a Blackpool based Mod band who recorded a handful of singles with frontman Roy Carr and future Jethro Tull bassist Glenn Cornick. Williams originally auditioned to join Jethro Tull in 1968 along with Martin Barre. He also brought out a single, "Lazy River". From 1970 to 1971 he played bass guitar with the band Requiem. Jeffrey Hammond
Jeffrey Hammond (born 30 July 1946), often known by his former stage name Jeffrey Hammond-Hammond, is an English artist and former musician best known for being the bassist of progressive rock band Jethro Tull from 1971 to 1975. With Jethro Tull, Hammond played on some of the band's most successful and well-known albums, including '' Aqualung'' (1971) and '' Thick as a Brick'' (1972). Hammond adopted the name "Hammond-Hammond" as a joke, since both his father's surname and mother's maiden name were the same. He also joked in interviews that his mother defiantly chose to keep her maiden name, just like Eleanor Roosevelt. Musician with Jethro Tull Hammond met Ian Anderson in grammar school and formed a band with him and future Jethro Tull members John Evan and Barriemore Barlow. Durham ( , locally ) is a cathedral city and civil parish in the county of County Durham, Durham, England. Gerry Rafferty
Gerald Rafferty (16 April 1947– 4 January 2011) was a Scottish singer, songwriter, musician and record producer. He was a founding member of Stealers Wheel, whose biggest hit was "Stuck in the Middle with You" in 1973. His solo hits in the late 1970s included "Baker Street", " Right Down the Line" and " Night Owl". Rafferty was born into a working-class family in Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland. His mother taught him both Irish and Scottish folk songs when he was a boy; later, he was influenced by the music of the Beatles and Bob Dylan. He joined the folk-pop group the Humblebums (of which Billy Connolly was a member) in 1969. After they disbanded in 1971, he recorded his first solo album, '' Can I Have My Money Back?'' Rafferty and Joe Egan formed the group Stealers Wheel in 1972. In 1978, he recorded his second solo album, '' City to City''. Blackpool Zoo is a zoo, owned by Parques Reunidos and located in the sea-side resort of Blackpool, Lancashire, England. It cares for over 1,000 animals from all over the world. The Fylde
The Fylde () is a coastal plain in western Lancashire, England. It is roughly a square-shaped peninsula, bounded by Morecambe Bay to the north, the Ribble estuary to the south, the Irish Sea to the west, and the foot of the Bowland hills to the east which approximates to a section of the M6 motorway and West Coast Main Line. Geography It is a flat, alluvial plain, parts of which have deposits of and were once dug for peat. The River Wyre meanders across the Fylde from Garstang on the eastern edge, westwards towards Poulton and then northwards to the sea at Fleetwood. Kiss of the Gypsy is an English rock band, formed by Tony Mitchell, Darren Rice, George Williams, Scott Elliott and Martin Talbot in Fleetwood, Lancashire in 1990. History In 1991, Fleetwood, Lancashire, England, blues rock band Kiss of the Gypsy, led by singer-songwriter, Tony Mitchell, released their only album, ''Kiss of the Gypsy''. The band lasted three years, released one album and three singles, after being signed to Atlantic Records USA in 1991. When Atlantic UK folded that same year, Kiss of the Gypsy was passed over to East West UK and, in 1992, began work on a new album. Rod Coombes
Rodney Coombes (born 15 May 1946) is an English musician. He was mostly known from playing drums with British bands Stealers Wheel in 1972 to 1973 and again in 2008 and Strawbs from 1974 to 1977 and again from 2004 to 2010. Career Rod is an artist and musician whose first instrument was the guitar, but his father, Roy Coombes, was a drummer/vocalist; so drums became Rod's instrument. He has played drums professionally since he was 17, when he joined singer Lulu's backing band, The Luvvers. After the Luvvers, Rod got a call to join George Bean and The Runners, a soul band with a full horn section. Ironically, George got a call for the band to back Lulu on her radio- and UK tours so it was back to Lulu again.
