Tommy Taylor
Thomas Taylor (29 January 1932 – 6 February 1958) was an English footballer, who was known for his aerial ability. He was one of the eight Manchester United players who died in the Munich air disaster. Career Taylor was born in Smithies, near Barnsley, Yorkshire, on 29 January 1932, one of six children born to Charles and Violet Taylor. He was a pupil at Raley Secondary Modern School, leaving in 1947. He began his football career playing for a team at the colliery where he worked. Two years later, he signed for Barnsley. He made his first-team debut at the age of 18 on 7 October 1950, in a 3–1 home win against Grimsby Town. In his next match, on 4 November 1950, he scored a hat-trick in a 7–0 victory against Queens Park Rangers. In all he scored seven goals in twelve appearances in 1950–51. Thomas Taylor (9 April 1903 – 14 November 1978) was an English professional footballer who played as an inside-forward for Southampton in the 1920s. Football career Taylor was born in Wavertree and played as an amateur for Rhos in the Welsh National League, where he made an appearance for the Welsh League against Cheshire at Chester. In 1926, he joined Manchester City but failed to break through into the first team. In August 1927, he moved to the south coast to join Southampton of the Football League Second Division. He made his debut when he took the place of Dick Rowley at inside-right for the match at Grimsby Town on 24 September 1927. Thomas Taylor, commonly known as Tommy Taylor, is an Irish former footballer who played as a goalkeeper, and briefly as a centre-forward, and made one appearance for the Republic of Ireland national team. Career Taylor made his first and only international appearance for the Republic of Ireland on 5 October 1958 in a friendly against Poland, coming on as a 68th-minute substitute for Jimmy O'Neill. The home match, which was played at Dalymount Park in Dublin, finished as a 2–2 draw with Taylor not conceding while in goal. In early 1959, Taylor moved to Malta for his job with an Irish construction firm, and subsequently joined Valletta. Thomas Frederick Taylor (born 26 September 1951) is an English football manager and former footballer. As a footballer, he played as a defender. He is currently the head coach of Europa Point. Playing career Taylor played for Orient, helping them to promotion to Division Two, and captained the England youth team. He won 13 caps for the England Under-23 team, but never made a senior appearance. Taylor joined West Ham United in October 1970 and was a member of the team that won the FA Cup in 1975. In 1977, he played for Team Hawaii of North American Soccer League from May to August of this year on loan from West Ham. Thomas Edward Taylor (16 June 1862 – 27 July 1911) was a Christchurch mayor, New Zealand Member of Parliament, businessman and prohibitionist (advocate of temperance). Early life Taylor was born on 16 June 1862 in Kirton in Lindsey, Lincolnshire, England, the son of Edward Taylor and his wife, Anne Turner. Tommy Taylor was a British Paralympic athlete who won sixteen medals across five sports, including ten gold medals. Taylor was treated by Ludwig Guttmann after an accident in 1956 caused severe paralysis. He went on to compete at numerous Paralympic Games, finding particular success in para table tennis from Rome 1960 to Arnhem 1980. Eight of Taylor's gold medals came in table tennis, along with one in snooker and one in lawn bowls.
