A port-city, it is located in the Northern Dobruja region of Romania, on the Black Sea coast. It is the capital of Constanța County and the largest city in the historical region of Dobrogea. Romania’s fifth largest city, it is also the largest port on the Black Sea. As of the 2011 census, Constanța has a population of 283,872. ''Tomis'' is a genus of South American jumping spiders that was first described by F.O. Pickard-Cambridge in 1901. The genus ''Pseudattulus'', erected by Lodovico di Caporiacco in 1947, was formerly considered distinct with two species, but was placed in synonymy in 2020 when ''Tomis'' was re-separated from ''Sitticus'' (now ''Attulus'').
