Tom Savini's Special Make-Up Effects Program
Tom Savini's Special Make-Up Effects Program is a two-year academic program at the Douglas Education Center in Monessen, Pennsylvania, outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The program awards an associate degree in Specialized Business. The program began in 2000. The program curriculum was designed by Tom Savini, the legendary horror special effects master and makeup artist known for his work in ''Friday the 13th'', '' Dawn of the Dead'', and '' Day of the Dead.'' Instructors also include long-term Savini associates, including Jerry Gergely, who earned a 1998 Emmy nomination for his makeup work for '' Babylon 5''. The Pittsburgh Comicon, later known as Wizard World Comic Con Pittsburgh and since succeeded by Steel-City Con, was a comic book convention held in Monroeville, Pennsylvania, United States. It was founded in 1994 by Michael and Renee George. It was traditionally a three-day event (Friday through Sunday) and featured a fan-friendly experience that allowed the fans to interact with comic professionals at all levels. Jordu Schell (born June 5, 1967) is an American sculptor and concept artist who has been working in the film and television industries for over twenty years. Career Jordu Schell began his career as a sculptor and Halloween mask maker. He primarily sculpts in clay and other physical materials, rather than in CGI or in 2-D drawings, although he works in those forms as well.
