Tom Beck (American Football)
Tom Beck (born December 21, 1940) is a former American football player and coach. He served as the head football coach at Illinois Benedictine College—now Benedictine University—from 1970 to 1974, Elmhurst College from 1976 to 1983, and Grand Valley State University from 1985 to 1990. During his college football head coaching career, he compiled a 137–52–1 record, a .724 winning percentage. All three institutions where Beck coached had historically losing teams before he turned them into nationally ranked programs. Beck was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as a coach in 2004. Beck played football at Northern Illinois University, where he started on offense, defense, and played special teams. He was the last two-way player in the history of Northern Illinois Huskies football. Thomas Helmut "Tom" Beck (born 26 February 1978) is a German actor, singer, and entrepreneur. Early life Beck finished high school in Neues Gymnasium Nürnberg. He then attended the Bavarian Theatre Academy in Munich, under the Musical degree programme, where he was trained musically and in dancing, and finished with his thesis, ''Beck-Stage.'' Career Beck played and sang in two bands; he left King Schlayer, his second, in 2001 after the second year. After receiving his award at the National Singing Competition in 2001, Beck was engaged as a performer in musicals between 2005 and 2007. Since 2004 he appeared in various television productions. From autumn 2008 to the end of 2013, Beck was seen in the action series ''Alarm für Cobra 11 – Die Autobahnpolizei'' alongside Erdoğan Atalay as ''Kriminallhauptkommissar'' Ben Jäger. ''Deep Impact'' is a 1998 American science-fiction disaster film directed by Mimi Leder, written by Bruce Joel Rubin and Michael Tolkin, and starring Robert Duvall, Téa Leoni, Elijah Wood, Vanessa Redgrave, Maximilian Schell, and Morgan Freeman. Steven Spielberg served as an executive producer of this film. It was released by Paramount Pictures in North America and by DreamWorks Pictures internationally on May 8, 1998. The film depicts the attempts to prepare for and destroy a wide comet set to collide with Earth and cause a mass extinction. ''Deep Impact'' was released in the same summer as a similarly themed film, ''Armageddon'', which fared better at the box office, while astronomers described ''Deep Impact'' as being more scientifically accurate.
