Tom Barrett (ice Hockey)
Tom Barrett (died 2 April 1996) was a Canadian ice hockey coach. Career Barrett joined the Kitchener Rangers of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) as head coach for the 1983–84 OHL season. In his first season behind their bench he steered Kitchner to the best record in the OHL with 106 points, and Barrett was awarded the Matt Leyden Trophy as OHL Coach of the Year. He stayed with the Rangers until midway through the 1986–87 season when he was replaced by Joe McDonnell. In 1993 he joined the Chatham Wheels of the Colonial Hockey League (CoHL) as head coach, and was named the CoHL's coach of the Year after guiding the Wheels to a 39-18-7 record for their final year in Chatham. In 1994 he relocated with the team to Saginaw, Michigan where he continued to coach the Saginaw Wheels until he was replaced by his assistant, Mike Zruna, part-way through the 1995–96 season. Northeastern Hockey League
The points of the compass are a set of horizontal, radially arrayed compass directions (or azimuths) used in navigation and cartography. A compass rose is primarily composed of four cardinal directions—north, east, south, and west—each separated by 90 degrees, and secondarily divided by four ordinal (intercardinal) directions—northeast, southeast, southwest, and northwest—each located halfway between two cardinal directions. Chatham Wheels
The Chatham Wheels were a minor professional ice hockey team that played in Colonial Hockey League (CoHL) from 1992 to 1994. Based in Chatham, Ontario, Canada, the team played it homes games in the Chatham Memorial Arena. In its first season, 1992–93, the expansion team was coached by Ron Caron, and in its second and last season in Chatham, 1993–94, it was coach by Tom Barrett. The team made it to the Colonial Cup championship in 1994 where it lost to the Thunder Bay Senators in five games. 1995–96 OHL Season
The 1995–96 OHL season was the 16th season of the Ontario Hockey League. The league expanded as the Barrie Colts entered into the central division. The Detroit Junior Red Wings become the Detroit Whalers. Seventeen teams each played 66 games. The Peterborough Petes won the J. Ross Robertson Cup, defeating the Guelph Storm. Expansion Barrie Colts On May 6, 1994, The Barrie Colts were approved as an expansion team in the Ontario Hockey League beginning in the 1995-96 season. The Colts began their inaugural season playing in the Barrie Arena, however, on December 31, 1995, the Colts moved into their new home, the Barrie Molson Centre. London Knights
The London Knights are a junior ice hockey team from London, Ontario, Canada, playing in the Ontario Hockey League, one of the leagues of the Canadian Hockey League. The Knights started out in 1965 as the London Nationals but changed to their current name in 1968. The Knights have won two Memorial Cup championships. History Early days The London Nationals were granted a franchise in the OHA for the 1965–66 season under the ownership of the London Gardens arena, with the Toronto Maple Leafs controlling the team's players. Upon the collapse of the Metro Junior A League in 1963, the Leafs were left with only one sponsored OHA team, the Toronto Marlboros, with which to place their prospects. Saginaw Wheels
The Saginaw Gears were a minor professional ice hockey franchise that played in the United Hockey League (UHL), formerly known as the Colonial Hockey League. The Gears existed for five seasons and part of one other, from 1994 to December 19, 1999. Chatham Wheels The club began in 1992 in the Colonial Hockey League (CoHL) in Chatham, Ontario, as the Chatham Wheels. The Wheels won the franchise's only division championship in 1994 with a 39–18–7 record, making it all the way to the championship series before losing to the Thunder Bay Senators.
