''Tlalocohyla'' is a genus of frogs in the family Hylidae, also known as rain treefrogs or Middle American yellow-bellied treefrogs. They occur in Middle America between Mexico and Costa Rica. Darrel Frost
Darrel Richmond Frost (born 1951) is an American Herpetology, herpetologist and systematist. He was previously head curator of herpetology at the American Museum of Natural History, as well as president of both the Society for the Study of Amphibians and Reptiles (1998) and the American Society of Ichthyologists and Herpetologists (2006). Four taxa are named in his honor: the toad genus ''Frostius'' (which includes Frostius pernambucensis, Frost's Toad), the tree frog ''Dendropsophus, Dendropsophus frosti'', Darrel's Chorus Frog ''Microhyla darreli'', and Frost's arboreal alligator lizard ''Abronia frosti''. Frog
A frog is any member of a diverse and largely semiaquatic group of short-bodied, tailless amphibian vertebrates composing the order (biology), order Anura (coming from the Ancient Greek , literally 'without tail'). Hylidae
Hylidae is a wide-ranging family of frogs commonly referred to as " tree frogs and their allies". However, the hylids include a diversity of frog species, many of which do not live in trees, but are terrestrial or semiaquatic. Taxonomy and systematics The earliest known fossils that can be assigned to this family are from the Cretaceous of India and the state of Wyoming in the United States. The common name of "tree frog" is a popular name for several species of the family Hylidae. Hyla
''Hyla'' is a genus of frogs in the tree frog family Hylidae. As traditionally defined, it was a wastebasket genus with more than 300 species found in Europe, Asia, Africa, and across the Americas. After a major revision of the family, most of these have been moved to other genera so that ''Hyla'' now only contains 17 extant (living) species from Europe, northern Africa and Asia. The earliest known fossil member of this genus is †'' Hyla swanstoni'' from the Eocene of Saskatchewan, Canada, but its designation to ''Hyla'' happened before the major revision, meaning that its position needs confirmation. The mahogany tree frog (''Tlalocohyla loquax'') is a species of frog in the family Hylidae found in Belize, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, and Nicaragua.
