Timothy G. O'Connell
Timothy G. O’Connell (1868–1955) was an American architect whose Boston-based practice specialized in ecclesiastical design. O'Connell is reputed to have produced some 600 civic and religious buildings. Some of these structures such as the Church of Sts. Peter and Paul in Lewiston, Maine would rival any medieval cathedral in form and scale. Little is currently known of this architect and his work. When he closed his office in Boston in the 1950s he destroyed all of his records and drawings. Childhood and education O'Connell was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa in 1868. Two years later his family moved to Newburyport, Massachusetts, where he attended public grammar school and the Immaculate Conception High School. While there the local clergyman, Fr. Mortimer Twomey, encouraged the youth to study architecture. O'Connell is said to have taken some courses at MIT but never received a degree from that school. Fort Dodge is a city in, and the county seat of, Webster County, Iowa, United States, along the Des Moines River. The population was 24,871 in the 2020 census, a decrease from 25,136 in 2000. Taftville is a small village in eastern Connecticut. It is a neighborhood of Norwich but has its own post office ( ZIP Code 06380). It was established in 1866 as site for the large Taftville Mill, later Ponemah Mill.
