WKAQ (AM)
WKAQ (580 Hertz, kHz) is a commercial AM radio, AM radio station in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Currently owned by WAPA Media Group, the station airs a Spanish language talk radio format. Its programming is repeated on WUKQ, which broadcasts on 1420 kHz in Ponce, Puerto Rico, Ponce, and WYEL which broadcasts on 600 kHz in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, Mayagüez. The station was the first radio station to broadcast in Puerto Rico. According to Ernesto Vigoreaux, in the early days of music in Puerto Rico, the musicians would record music ''at'' the WKAQ radio station. WKAQ is the Puerto Rico primary entry point station for the Emergency Alert System. WKAQ was owned for many years by Angel Ramos, owner of the ''El Mundo (Puerto Rico), El Mundo'' newspaper, and eventual namesake for WKAQ-TV, branded as Telemundo. KZKZ (Philippines)
KZKZ was the first broadcasting station authorized in the Philippines. The station was first authorized in 1924, on 1110 kHz avelength of 270.1 meters to the Electrical Supply Company at 109 Plaza Moraga in Manila Although there had been earlier experimental broadcasts dating back to 1922, KZKZ was the first standard broadcasting station authorized in the Philippines. As early as September 1924, KZKZ was reported to be broadcasting health news. One early report listed KZKZ as operating with 100 watts on 1110 kHz. However, at the same time a shipboard radio operator, located at Manila, stated that the station was broadcasting on 400 meters 50 kHz with a power of 250 watts and a schedule of 8:30 to 9:30 nightly.
