Time For Love (radio Program)
''Time for Love'' is an old-time radio adventure drama in the United States. It was broadcast on CBS January 15, 1953 - May 27, 1954. Relationship to ''Cafe Istanbul'' ''Time for Love'' can be considered a sequel to — or a spinoff of — ''Cafe Istanbul'', although the setting and the main character's name differed from those of the earlier program. Radio historian John Dunning, in his reference book ''On the Air: The Encyclopedia of Old-Time Radio'', wrote, "In 1953, Dietrich took the show 'Cafe Istanbul''to CBS, changed the setting, and emerged with a sound-alike series called ''Time for Love''. Robert C. Reinehr and Jon D. Swartz wrote in ''The A to Z of Old Time Radio'', "The program 'Cafe Istanbul''moved to a different network and was renamed ''Time for Love''. Bob Readick (November 28, 1925 – May 27, 1985), also known professionally as Bobby Readick, was an American voice and film actor, best known for a run as the voice of "Johnny Dollar" in the CBS radio series ''Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar'' in the early 1960s. The Golden Age of Radio, also known as the old-time radio (OTR) era, was an era of radio in the United States where it was the dominant electronic home entertainment medium. It began with the birth of commercial radio broadcasting in the early 1920s and lasted through the 1950s, when television superseded radio as the medium of choice for scripted programming, variety and dramatic shows. Radio was the first broadcast medium, and during this period people regularly tuned in to their favorite radio programs, and families gathered to listen to the home radio in the evening. ''Cafe Istanbul'' is an old-time radio foreign intrigue and adventure program in the United States. It was broadcast on ABC January 6, 1952 - December 28, 1952. Format ''Mademoiselle Madou'' was the singer in Cafe Istanbul, a cabaret located somewhere in the Far East. Patrons of the cafe included "spies, criminals and the Secret Police," and Madou became involved with some of them in each episode.Terrace, Vincent (1999). John Dunning (radio Historian)
John Dunning (January 9, 1942 – May 23, 2023) was an American writer of non-fiction and detective fiction. He was known for his reference books on old-time radio and his series of mysteries featuring Denver bookseller and ex-policeman Cliff Janeway. Early life and career Born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1942, Dunning moved to his father's hometown of Charleston, South Carolina, at the age of three. In 1964 he left his parents' home and moved to Denver, Colorado, where, after a time working as a stable hand at a horse racing track, he got a job at '' The Denver Post''. In 1970 he left the newspaper and took up writing novels, while pursuing a variety of jobs. Partly because of trouble with his publishers, in 1984 he stopped writing and opened a store specializing in second-hand and rare books called the Old Algonquin Bookstore. Percy Faith (April 7, 1908 – February 9, 1976) was a Canadian–American bandleader, orchestrator, composer and conductor, known for his lush arrangements of instrumental ballads and Christmas standards. He is often credited with popularizing the "easy listening" or "mood music" format. He became a staple of American popular music in the 1950s and continued well into the 1960s.
