Tim Burke (born May 29, 1955 in Melrose, Massachusetts) is a former ice hockey defenseman and assistant coach in many different leagues. Career Tim Burke serves as the director of scouting for the San Jose Sharks. In this role, he coordinates and oversees the Sharks efforts in the National Hockey League's annual Entry Draft while working closely with Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson and his staff. In addition to being the principal decision-maker at the draft table, Burke is also responsible for evaluating amateur talent at every level in all North American and European leagues and supervises all aspects of the club's amateur scouting efforts. Timothy Phillip Burke (born February 19, 1959) is a retired Major League Baseball relief pitcher who played for the Montreal Expos, New York Mets, and New York Yankees. He batted and threw right-handed. Between 1987 and 1988, he briefly had the lowest career earned run average for a relief pitcher, and his career earned run average of 2.72 is lower than all Hall of Famer relief pitchers except for Mariano Rivera and Hoyt Wilhelm. Career Drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in round two of the 1980 MLB draft, Burke was traded to the Yankees on December 22, 1982, and then after a year in New York's minor league system, was dealt to the Expos for outfielder Pat Rooney on December 20, 1983. Although he was primarily a starting pitcher over his four minor league seasons, he made his major league debut with the Expos on April 8, 1985, in relief. Timothy John Burke (born February 3, 1982 in Paul Smiths, New York) is a retired U.S. biathlete and coach. On December 20, 2009, he became the first ever US biathlete to lead the overall Biathlon World Cup. During his career he competed in 11 Biathlon World Championships and four Winter Olympic Games, won a World Championship silver and took six podiums in World Cup races. Tim Burke is an American born Canadian football coach who was the defensive coordinator for the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League. Burke was previously the head coach of the CFL's Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Career Burke played running back for Luther College in Decorah, Iowa from 1974 to 1977. After graduating in 1977, Burke started his coaching career with the University of Minnesota. Timothy Burke was a businessman who, with his brother John M. Burke, founded the Burke Brothers Construction Company in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and the Scranton, Dunmore, and Moosic Lake Railroad. Born in Ireland, the Burkes emigrated with their parents to the United States and settled in New York state. They first worked as laborers and helped to build an aqueduct in the Catskill Mountains. After learning the masonry and construction trades, they moved to the burgeoning industrial city of Scranton and in 1882 established their construction company. Their first job was to build the Lake Scranton Dam. Later, the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad hired the company to make various improvements on its line from Milburn to Summit, New Jersey, including raising the roadbed, widening the curves, and eliminating grade crossings.
