Three Bites Of The Apple
''Three Bites of the Apple'' is a 1967 American romantic comedy film directed by Alvin Ganzer. Plot Stanley Thrumm is a British tour guide. An unlikely night of successful casino gambling on the Italian Riviera leaves him wealthy but in a quandary. If he returns to England with the cash, most of it will go to British taxes. He decides to smuggle the money to Switzerland and establish a bank account there. Carla Moretti, a beautiful bystander at the casino, volunteers to help, but in fact intends to fleece Thrumm with the help of her ex-husband. As summarized by Michael Betzold, the "lightweight comedy" turns into a "long car chase with many comic diversions and a lot of Alpine scenery". There also is a soundtrack album where David McCallum sings the theme song over the opening credits. Alvin Ganzer
Alvin Ganzer (1911–2009) was an American film and television director. Early life Ganzer was born in 1911 in Cold Spring, Minnesota. Career As a young man, Ganzer moved to California, and in 1932 was given a job at Paramount Pictures in its casting department. He worked for Paramount as an assistant and second unit director on many feature films from 1934 through 1954. His first directorial feature film credit is for '' The Girls of Pleasure Island'' (1953); he had been assisting F. Hugh Herbert, who became ill during production. From 1954–1979 he was a prolific director of episodes for television series, and directed a handful of additional feature films. Personal life He was married to Murial Ganzer, and they had a son Alvin, and a daughter, Carolynn Jacobs Finnegan, all of whom survived him. Avril Angers
Florence Avril Angers (18 April 1918 – 9 November 2005) was an English stand-up comedian and actress. In 2005 ''The Daily Telegraph'' described her as "one of the most zestful, charming and reliable character comediennes in the postwar London theatre". Life Angers was born in Liverpool, Lancashire in 1918. Her father, Harry Angers, was a music hall comedian who also appeared in films in the 1930s and 1940s. She was a dancer with the Tiller Girls before joining ENSA during the Second World War. She never married or had children. Angers lived in Covent Garden, London, where she died from pneumonia, aged 87. Career She made her West End theatre debut at the Palace Theatre in a 1944 revue titled ''Keep Going''. The Warner Archive Collection is a home video division for releasing classic and cult films from Warner Bros.' library. It started as a manufactured-on-demand (MOD) DVD series by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment on March 23, 2009, with the intention of putting previously unreleased catalog films on DVD for the first time. In November 2012, Warner expanded the Archive Collection to include Blu-ray releases. Some Warner Archive releases, such as '' Wise Guys'', previously had a pressed DVD release but have lapsed out of print and have since been re-released as part of the Warner Archive collection. Ann Lancaster (5 May 1920 – 31 October 1970) was a well-known character actress who appeared in many British films, television shows and in theatre. Lancaster specialised in comic roles and had a talent for voices which she often used on radio to portray children and to do voiceovers for television commercials. Douglas John Cardew Robinson (14 August 1917 – 28 December 1992) was a British comic whose career was rooted in the music hall and Gang Shows. Early life and career Born in Goodmayes, Essex, Robinson was educated at Harrow County School for Boys. He enjoyed acting in school productions and loved the books of Frank Richards, featuring Billy Bunter of Greyfriars and the weekly magazine ''The Gem'' with the adventures of Ralph Reckness Cardew of St Jim's. In the early 1930s, while at Harrow County School, he wrote for the school magazine, ''The Gaytonian'', using the pseudonym Hotbreaks. Riccardo Garrone (actor)
Riccardo Garrone (1 November 1926 – 14 March 2016) was an Italian actor and dubber. Biography Garrone began his acting career in 1949 and attended the Accademia Nazionale di Arte Drammatica Silvio D'Amico, Silvio d'Amico National Academy of Dramatic Arts. He appeared in more than 140 films from 1949 until his retirement in 2014. He made his debut in the film ''Adam and Eve (1949 film), Adam and Eve'' directed by Mario Mattoli. He also worked in several theatre productions alongside other actors such as Vittorio Gassman, Diana Torrieri and Elena Zareschi.
