Thomas Nicholas (MP)
Thomas Nicholas (c. 1575 – 13/14 August 1638) was an English politician who sat in the House of Commons of England, House of Commons from 1621 to 1622. Nicholas was the eldest son of Reginald Nicholas of Prestbury, Gloucestershire. He was educated in the law at the New Inn (Inn of Chancery), New Inn and the Middle Temple (1594). In 1621, he was elected Member of Parliament for Cirencester (UK Parliament constituency), Cirencester. He was a Justice of the Peace, J.P. for Gloucestershire and was appointed High Sheriff of Gloucestershire for 1626–27. Nicholas married twice: firstly Jane, daughter of John Audley and widow of Andrew Ketelby of Gloucestershire; and secondly Bridget, the daughter of Michael Strange of Cirencester, Gloucestershire and Somerford Keynes, Wiltshire. He had no children and was buried at Stratton, Gloucestershire, Stratton. References

Thomas Nicholas (17 February 1816 The 1894 DNB gives his birth year as 1820. The DWB gives it as 1816. It is more recent and is more precise, and therefore seems more likely to be right. - 14 May 1879) was a Welsh antiquary and educator. Biography Nicholas was born in a small thatched house near Trefgarn chapel, not far from Solva, Pembrokeshire. He was educated at Lancashire College, Manchester, and at Göttingen in Germany, where he took the degree of PhD. He became a Presbyterian minister, and served at Stroud, Gloucestershire and at Eignbrook, Herefordshire. In 1856, he was appointed professor of biblical literature and mental and moral science at the Presbyterian College at Carmarthen. In 1863 he settled in London, resigning his professorship, and thenceforth, with the aid of Sir Hugh Owen, Lord Aberdare, Archdeacon Griffiths, Rev. Thomas Evan Nicholas (Niclas Y Glais)
Thomas Evan Nicholas (6 October 1879 – 19 April 1971), who used the bardic name Niclas y Glais ( en, 'Nicholas of Glais'), was a Welsh language poet, preacher, radical, and champion of the disadvantaged of society. Early life Nicholas was born at 'Blaunwaun Felen' in Llanfyrnach parish, Pembrokeshire, Wales, the fifth child of David (a small farmer and stonemason) and Elizabeth Nicholas. Before he was one year old, the family moved to 'Y Llety', Pentre Galar, a 57-acre smallholding on the slopes of Foel Dyrch in the Preseli Hills, Pembrokeshire, where Nicholas was brought up.
