''There are Three Sisters'' is a 1939 Australian radio play by Maxwell Dunn Maxwell Dunn (1916–65) was an Australian writer and producer of radio, films and prose. Dunn was born in Launceston, Tasmania. He did a variety of jobs, including as an insurance agent and began writing for radio. Dunn became production manager .... Dunn wrote the play on the train from Adelaide to Perth. It was very successful and within a year had been produced eight times in different countries. The play was produced again in 1940, 1943, 1945 and 1949. A critic from ''Wireless Weekly'' called it "original" with "nice construction. I particularly admired the well-timed anti-climax... a very interesting play, with...an overdose of explanatory dialogue, the result of the playwright’s anxiety to leave listeners in no doubt as to his characters’ actions. Maxwell Dunn
Maxwell Dunn (1916–65) was an Australian writer and producer of radio, films and prose. Dunn was born in Launceston, Tasmania. He did a variety of jobs, including as an insurance agent and began writing for radio. Dunn became production manager for the Macquarie network where he wrote and adapted numerous plays, serials and documentaries. In 1951, Dunn left Australia to become Programme Director of Film Television with the United Nations Organisation. He worked for ten years in New York and New Delhi then returned to Australia shortly before his death in 1965. Dunn's papers are at the University of Queensland.
