Theo And The Skyscrapers
Theo & the Skyscrapers are an experimental electronic band from New York City consisting of Theo Kogan (formerly of the band Lunachicks, and also a model and actress), Sean Pierce (of Toilet Böys), Chris Kling and Dimitry Makhnosky. Their sound has also been described as "a cross breed of new wave and metal". and a "gloriously trashy technicolor electro-clash disco cabaret, with quirky art-punk and metallic overtones." In the fall of 2003, Theo and her husband, Sean, met Chris and Dimitry and Theo & the Skyscrapers was formed. The band released '' Theo and the Skyscrapers'' in 2006 and ''So Many Ways to Die'' in 2007 on their record label, Dark Daddy Records. The band are involved in a video installation/rock performance called Screen Test by Rob Roth, who also did several of their music videos. Lunachicks
Lunachicks are an American punk rock band from New York City. The band formed in 1987 and had been on hiatus since 2000, with the band reuniting in 2019. The band cited influences including the Ramones, Kiss, and the MC5. Biography Theo Kogan, Gina Volpe, and Sydney "Squid" Silver were students at New York City's Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts when they decided to form a band. Sindi Benezra, an acquaintance of Silver, was asked to join shortly after. They rehearsed and wrote material in Gina's bedroom for about a year. Their first composition, the lengthy "Theme Song", was about killing Kogan's and Silver's English teacher. The band played their first show in 1988 with Theo's then-boyfriend Mike on the drums. Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth were amongst the audience for one of their early performances. Theo Kogan (born December 23, 1969) is an American singer, songwriter, model, and actress. She is best known as the vocalist of the all-girl punk band Lunachicks. She also sang in the dance/ electronic band Theo & the Skyscrapers. She also has her own cosmetic line, Armour Beauty. She is married to Sean Pierce, the guitarist of Theo & the Skyscrapers and the Toilet Böys. Rob Roth is an American multidisciplinary artist and director based in New York City. He works in a variety of media including theater, video, sculpture and performance. Roth received his BFA from Pratt Institute and has exhibited different work at a variety of venues including the New Museum, Performance Space 122, HERE Arts Center, Museum of Arts and Design, and Deitch Projects.
