Thell Reed
Thell Reed is an American exhibition shooter, stuntman, armorer, and movie consultant. Shooting career As a teenager, Reed competed in Jeff Cooper's Big Bear "Leatherslaps" shooting competitions at Big Bear Lake, California. The Leatherslaps became the "South Western Combat Pistol League" or "SWCPL". Reed competed so successfully that he became one of six "Combat Masters", so called because they would almost always take the first six places in the competition. Of the six Combat Masters (Reed, John Plähn, Jack Weaver, Elden Carl, Ray Chapman, and Cooper), Reed had the quickest draw. After the SWCPL matches, Reed went on to compete in fast draw competitions in which he achieved fame. Reed's success in firearms competitions gained him entry into the movie industry and he became an advisor to motion pictures and television. Fast draw, also known as quick draw, is the ability to quickly draw a handgun and accurately fire it upon a target in the process. This skill was made popular by romanticized depictions of gunslingers in the Western genre, which in turn were inspired by famous historical gunfights in the American Old West. Rust is an iron oxide, a usually reddish-brown oxide formed by the reaction of iron and oxygen in the catalytic presence of water or air moisture. ''Rust'' is a 2024 American Western film written and directed by Joel Souza. It stars Alec Baldwin (who also produced and co-wrote the story with Souza), Patrick Scott McDermott, Josh Hopkins, Frances Fisher, and Travis Fimmel. Years before its eventual release, the film became notorious for a fatal shooting accident. In 2021, cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was shot and killed when a live round was discharged from a prop revolver fired between takes by Baldwin. Director Souza was wounded in the shoulder by the same bullet. An initial set of charges against Baldwin were dropped in 2023 and another set dismissed in 2024. Johnny Ringo
John Peters Ringo (May 3, 1850 – July 13, 1882) was an American Old West outlaw loosely associated with the Cochise County Cowboys in frontier boomtown Tombstone, Arizona Territory. He took part in the Mason County War in Texas during which he committed his first murder. He was arrested and charged with murder. He was affiliated with Cochise County Sheriff Johnny Behan, Ike Clanton, and Frank Stilwell during 1881–1882. He got into a confrontation in Tombstone with Doc Holliday and was suspected by Wyatt Earp of having taken part in the attempted murder of Virgil Earp and the ambush and death of Morgan Earp. Ringo was found dead with a bullet wound to his temple which was ruled suicide.
