The World Today (radio Programme)
''The World Today'' was an early morning news and current affairs radio programme on the BBC World Service, launched in 1999, and broadcast from 3:00 to 8:30 (GMT) daily as of 2011. It consisted of news bulletins on the hour and half-hour, serious international interviews and in-depth reports of world news. The World Service considered it one of their most important strands, and in 2009 the programme won the News and Current Affairs Award at the Sony Radio Academy Awards. The judges noted that the programme "bubbled over with stories of real life from around the globe" and that "the compassion, respect and understanding the programme had for every contributor shone through every minute of the competition entry." Komla Dumor
Komla Afeke Dumor (3 October 1972 – 18 January 2014) was a Ghanaian journalist who worked for BBC World News and was the main presenter of its programme '' Focus on Africa''. Early life and education Dumor was born in Accra, Ghana. His father, Ernest Dumor, was a professor of sociology and his mother, Cecelia Dumor, had a master's degree in Mass Communication. His grandfather was Philip Gbeho, composer of the music of Ghanaian national anthem, and his uncle, James Victor Gbeho, is a leading Ghanaian diplomat. Ritula Shah
Ritula Harakchand Shah (born 1967) is a presenter on Classic FM. She was formerly a news presenter on BBC Radio, serving as the main presenter of ''The World Tonight'' on BBC Radio 4. Previously, Shah presented ''Woman's Hour'' on Radio 4 and was a launch presenter for '' The World Today'' on the BBC World Service. Shah joined ''The World Tonight'' as Deputy Presenter and also presented the Saturday edition of '' PM''. Max Pearson
Max Pearson (born 1959) is a BBC journalist and news presenter with the BBC World Service, best known as one of the presenters of '' The World Today'' and ''Newshour''. Career After completing post-graduate training in broadcast journalism, Pearson worked for the BBC in domestic radio. Fergus Nicoll is a British author and former BBC World Service radio presenter. Roger Hearing is a journalist and former news presenter. He has worked as a presenter on the BBC World Service and at Bloomberg Radio. Durdana Ansari OBE (born 1 March 1960) is a British entrepreneur, public speaker and activist for female empowerment. She is a former charity director, journalist, presenter and producer at the BBC World Service. Early life Durdana Ansari was born in Bahawalpur, Pakistan, then grew up in Islamabad.
