''The World's End (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)'' is the soundtrack to the 2013 film of the same name directed by Edgar Wright. The soundtrack was released on 5 August 2013 in the United Kingdom and 20 August in the United States. Published by ABKCO Records, the album featured several rock numbers of various subgenres such as alternative, indie, psychedelic as well as electronica, Madchester and Britpop ranging from the time period of late-1980s and early 1990s to reflect the character's adolescence. Background The album consisted numerous songs that have been selected from the time of the character's adolescence and also from Wright's; as most of them had been chosen while writing the film. He also compiled the playlist containing the selected songs for the crew to listen, which Pegg described as a "blast" with him and Wright delving into the music collection. "He's Gonna Step on You Again" (also known as "Step On") is a song originally performed by John Kongos, co-written by Kongos and Christos Demetriou, and first released in 1971 by Fly Records. It entered the UK Singles Chart on 22 May 1971 and spent 14 weeks there, peaking at No. 4. Covers of the song have been chart successes several times, including for Happy Mondays in 1990. Steven Price (born 22 April 1977) is a British film composer, best known for scoring ''Gravity'', which won him the Academy Award for Best Original Score. "Stormy Weather" is a 1933 torch song written by Harold Arlen and Ted Koehler. Ethel Waters first sang it at Cotton Club (New York City), The Cotton Club night club in Harlem, Manhattan, Harlem in 1933 and recorded it with the Dorsey Brothers' Orchestra under Brunswick Records that year, and in the same year it was sung in London by Elisabeth Welch and recorded by Frances Langford. Also in 1933, for the first time the entire floor revue from Harlem's Cotton Club (New York City), Cotton Club went on tour, playing theatres in principal cities.
