''The Whereabouts of Hidden Bridges'' is a collaborative mixtape by Minnesota alternative hip hop artist Eyedea and Advizer (Adam Waytz), Crescent Moon (Alexei Casselle), and DJ Anatomy (Stephen Lewis) of the rap quintet Oddjobs. It was released in 1999 by CMI Records in a small quantity, and is now considered a rare early work by both artists. History At the time Eyedea met the members of Oddjobs in about 1997, he had established himself solidly in the Twin Cities hip-hop scene but had not yet released his debut album, ''First Born'', and was just beginning to develop his national reputation. After getting to know them, he invited several members of the group to collaborate with him, recording the tracks for ''The Whereabouts of Hidden Bridges'' in only a week on a four-track tape. Eyedea
Micheal David Larsen (November 9, 1981 – October 16, 2010), better known by his stage name Eyedea, was an American rapper. He was a battle rap, freestyle battle champion and songwriter from Saint Paul, Minnesota. Larsen had appeared as a solo artist under the pseudonym Oliver Hart, and as the MC half of the duo Eyedea & Abilities (along with longtime friend and collaborator DJ Abilities). He was first signed to Slug (rapper), Slug's independent hip-hop label Rhymesayers Entertainment before founding his own record label, Crushkill Recordings. Career Eyedea first stepped into the hip-hop scene battling against other emcees at notable freestyle competitions. Oddjobs was an alternative hip hop group from Minnesota formed in 1995. The band released three studio albums and several EPs including 2003's critically praised ''Drums;'' it broke up in 2004 and the members re-formed as Kill the Vultures and Power Struggle. History Oddjobs was a quintet consisting of three rappers—Advizer (Adam Waytz), Crescent Moon (Alexei Casselle), and Nomi (Mario Demira)—and two producer/DJs—Anatomy (Stephen Lewis) and Deetalx (Devon Callahan). The group was part of a regional hip-hop subculture based in the Twin Cities which developed in the mid-1990s and included Atmosphere and the Rhymesayers collective, Eyedea & Abilities, Doomtree, Heiruspecs, and Brother Ali. ''Conflict & Compromise'' is the debut album by Minnesota alternative hip hop group Oddjobs. It was released in 1999 by Interlock Records. History The Oddjobs quintet began as a collaboration between students from Minneapolis South and St. Paul Central high schools around 1995. Oddjobs was itself a splinter group of a larger 30-member collective called Cases Of Mistaken Identity, or CMI, which also included graffiti artists and break dancers. The same scene produced other rap acts such as Kanser and Heiruspecs. The CMI collective put out a cassette, ''Case Studies'', in 1998, but soon only the core group of five remained. "Oddjobs was basically everyone who was serious enough to want to continue music after high school," Casselle told the French website Hiphopcore. Gregory Joseph Keltgen, better known by his stage name DJ Abilities, is an American underground hip hop producer and DJ signed to Rhymesayers Entertainment who is based in Minneapolis. He is a founding member of Eyedea & Abilities alongside Eyedea, and Semi.Official alongside I Self Devine. DJ Abilities is a member of 1200 Hobos and was also a member of Atmosphere at one point. He has won two regional DJ championships for the Midwest region. Career DJ Abilities released '' First Born'', a debut album with the rapper Eyedea as Eyedea & Abilities, in 2001. History A six-song EP, ''The Shopkeeper's Wife'' was the followup to Oddjobs' most critically and commercially successful album, 2002's ''Drums''.
