The Wave (Vejle)
Bølgen (Danish "The Wave") is a modern residential building complex by the Skyttehus bay in Vejle, Denmark. It is inspired by the Sydney Opera House by Danish architect Jørn Utzon and the hilly landscape around Vejle Fjord. The Wave in Vejle is designed by Henning Larsen Architects and contains ultimately 105 luxury apartments distributed on . It has been named as a ground-breaking architecture piece in modern times and a significant landmark of Vejle. Vejle () is a city in Denmark, in the southeast of the Jutland Peninsula at the head of Vejle Fjord, where the Vejle River and Grejs River and their valleys converge. It is the site of the councils of Vejle Municipality ('' kommune'') and the Region of Southern Denmark. The city has a population of 60,231 () making it the ninth largest city in Denmark. Henning Larsen Architects is an international architectural firm based in Copenhagen, Denmark. Founded in 1959 by Henning Larsen, it has around 750 employees. In 2008, it opened an office in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and in 2011, an office in Munich, Germany were inaugurated. The company also have offices in New York USA, Oslo, Norway, in the Faroe Islands, and in Hong Kong, China. It is known for its cultural and educational projects. Sydney Opera House
The Sydney Opera House is a multi-venue performing arts centre in Sydney. Jørn Utzon
Jørn Oberg Utzon, , Hon. FAIA (; 9 April 191829 November 2008) was a Danish architect. He was most notable for designing the Sydney Opera House in Australia, completed in 1973. When it was declared a World Heritage Site on 28 June 2007, Utzon became only the second person to have received such recognition for one of his works during his lifetime, after Oscar Niemeyer. Other noteworthy works include Bagsværd Church near Copenhagen and the National Assembly Building in Kuwait. He also made important contributions to housing design, especially with his Kingo Houses near Helsingør. Utzon attended the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (1937–42) and was influenced early on by Gunnar Asplund and Alvar Aalto. Vejle Fjord
Vejle Fjord is an East Jutland-type fjord in Denmark. It is approximately in length, and it stretches east from the town of Vejle at its head to the towns of Trelde Næs on the south side and Juelsminde on the north side at the mouth. The fjord's generally calm surface waters are surrounded by low forested hills shaped by glaciers during the last ice age. Public works projects have re-shaped the small rivers and countryside surrounding the fjord since the Middle Ages.
