''The Very Best'' is a greatest hits album released by Australian band INXS in 2011. It initially peaked at number 39 in Australia. Following the screening of '' INXS: Never Tear Us Apart'', an Australian miniseries about INXS that commenced on 9 February 2014 on the Seven Network, the album re-entered the charts, peaking at number one. When the miniseries screened in New Zealand in August 2014, the album also charted, similarly peaking at number one. Track listing The album was released in two formats; a single-disc version and a double-disc version with a DVD. The first disc of the deluxe edition is the same as the standard edition. Chart performance ''The Very Best'' debuted and peaked at number 39 in Australia on 6 November 2011. When promotion began for the mini-series, it re-entered the charts at number 13 on 10 November 2013. INXS
INXS (a phonetic play on "in excess") were an Australian rock band, formed as the Farriss Brothers in 1977 in Sydney. The founding members were bassist Garry Gary Beers, main composer and keyboardist Andrew Farriss, drummer Jon Farriss, guitarist Tim Farriss, lead singer and main lyricist Michael Hutchence, and guitarist and saxophonist Kirk Pengilly. For 20 years, INXS was fronted by Hutchence, whose stage presence made him the focal point of the band. Initially known for their new wave/pop style, the band later developed a harder pub rock style that included funk and dance elements. "Suicide Blonde" is the lead single from Australian rock band INXS's seventh studio album, '' X'' (1990). It was released on 22 August 1990 in the United States and on 3 September 1990 in the United Kingdom. The song reached number two in Australia, number nine in the United States, and number 11 in the United Kingdom. In Canada and New Zealand, the single peaked at number one for two and three weeks, respectively. At the APRA Music Awards of 1991, "Suicide Blonde" won the award Most Performed Australian Work Overseas. "Suicide Blonde" would be the final song performed live in front of an audience by Hutchence with INXS, on 27 September 1997 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, before his death on 22 November 1997. "Beautiful Girl" a song by Australian rock band INXS, released in February 1993 by Mercury, Atlantic and EastWest as the fifth international single from their eighth album, ''Welcome to Wherever You Are'' (1992). Background The song was written by Andrew Farriss, who was inspired to write it by the birth of his baby daughter. In an interview by Debbie Kruger, the INXS keyboardist explained: "I was writing lyrics like ' Baby Don't Cry' and 'Beautiful Girl' and lyrics just about how wonderful it is to have something else in your life besides yourself to worry about and think about." It was released on 2 November 1993, through East West Records in Australia, in the United Kingdom by Phonogram's Mercury Records label, and by Atlantic Records in the United States. Jonathan James Farriss (born 10 August 1961) is an Australian drummer and founding member of rock band INXS. Biography Jon Farriss was born to Dennis and Jill Farriss, and is the second youngest of four children: brothers and fellow band members Andrew and Tim, and younger sister Alison. Farriss is known for integrating traditional rock drums with more funk- and dance-influenced beats, as well as acoustic drums, sequencers, and pads. Examples of these techniques can be found in such songs as "Need You Tonight" and "The Stairs".
