''The Three Tenors in Concert 1994'' is a live album by José Carreras, Plácido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti with conductor Zubin Mehta. The album was recorded on July 16, 1994, at the Three Tenors concert in Los Angeles with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the chorus of the Los Angeles Opera on the night before the 1994 FIFA World Cup Final. An estimated 1.3 billion viewers watched the concert as a television broadcast special across the world. This concert has been released on home video formats, and re-released on Streaming Video formats on 2019. Reception The AllMusic reviewer wrote that the singers displayed "vitality and pizzazz" during the concert. The reviewer remarked on the oddity of a concert by classical musicians held in a sports stadium, but nonetheless believed that the popularity of the tenors made the venue less "ludicrous". The Three Tenors were an operatic singing trio, active between 1990 and 2003, and termed a supergroup (a title normally reserved for rock and pop groups) consisting of Italian Luciano Pavarotti and Spaniards Plácido Domingo and José Carreras. The trio began their collaboration with a performance at the ancient Baths of Caracalla in Rome, Italy, on 7 July 1990, the eve of the 1990 FIFA World Cup final, watched by a global television audience of around 800 million. The image of three tenors in formal evening dress singing in a World Cup concert captivated the global audience. Federico Moreno Torroba (3 March 189112 September 1982) was a Spanish composer, conductor, and theatrical impresario. He is especially remembered for his important contributions to the classical guitar repertoire, becoming one of the leading twentieth-century composers for the instrument. He was also one of the foremost composers of zarzuelas, a form of Spanish light opera. His 1932 zarzuela ''Luisa Fernanda'' has proved to be enduringly popular. In addition, he composed ballets, symphonic works, and piano pieces, as well as one-act operas and one full-length opera, '' El poeta'', which premiered in 1980, starring well-known tenor Plácido Domingo.
