The Sniper (2009 Film)
''The Sniper'' () is a 2009 Hong Kong action thriller film directed by Dante Lam and starring Richie Jen, Edison Chen and Huang Xiaoming, as top snipers for the Hong Kong Police Force. The film was originally set to be released in May 2008, but was delayed due to the Edison Chen photo scandal. Plot Hartman Fong (Richie Jen) succeeds Shane (Bowie Lam) as the leader of Hong Kong's Special Duties Unit Sniper Team. Hartman who is by-the-book and hierarchical, got the job despite being the second best shooter in team history. The best was Hartman's former teammate Lincoln (Huang Xiaoming), whose unorthodox methods and confidence makes him arrogant and disdainful of authority. Dante Lam
Dante Lam Chiu-yin (, born 1 July 1964) is a Hong Kong filmmaker, actor and action choreographer. Background He was trained in the tradition of John Woo as an assistant director and worked as an actor and producer. He often writes and supervises his own choreography. In 2008 he won the Hong Kong Film Award for Best Director for his work on '' Beast Stalker''. His 2018 film '' Operation Red Sea'' is the second-highest-grossing Chinese film of all time and 9th in the international box office list of 2018. It won him the Hundred Flowers Award for Best Director and the award for Best Action Choreography at the 38th Hong Kong Film Awards. Charmaine Fong Ho-man () is a Hong Kong Cantopop singer-songwriter and film actress. In 2019, Fong released a new song " Explicit Content (人話)" which she composed. Its lyrics expressed her stance toward the anti-government protests explicitly. The music video of the song, made up of protest footage and scenes of police brutality, was highly popular upon release, the number of views exceeded 400 thousand by the second day of release. As it was rare for public figures to voice out their stance and opinions on political issues, citizens that support the social movement praised Fong as a true singer for Hong Kong.
