''The Sessions'' is a 2012 American drama film written and directed by Ben Lewin. It is based on the 1990 article "On Seeing a Sex Surrogate" by Mark O'Brien, a poet paralyzed from the neck down due to polio, who hired a sex surrogate to lose his virginity. John Hawkes and Helen Hunt star as O'Brien and sex surrogate Cheryl Cohen-Greene, respectively. The film debuted under its original title ''The Surrogate'' at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award Dramatic and a U.S. Dramatic Special Jury Prize for Ensemble Acting. Fox Searchlight Pictures acquired the film's distribution rights and released the film in October 2012. ''The Sessions'' received highly positive reviews from critics, in particular lauding the performances of Hawkes and Hunt. Hunt was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress at the 85th Academy Awards. ''The Sessions'' is a 2020 Nigerian romantic drama film written and directed by Judith Audu and produced by Audu, Omowumi Dada, Uyoyou Adia and Morten Foght. The film was shot in the street of Lagos. It stars notable Nollywood actors and actresses such as Audu, Efa Iwara, Omowunmi Dada, Okey Uzoeshi, Tunbosun Aiyedehin, Fred Amata, Ada Ameh and Tony Akposheri. The Sessions Band is an American musical group that has periodically recorded and toured with American rock singer-songwriter Bruce Springsteen in various formations since 1997. History The Sessions Band was first formed in October 1997. That September, Bruce Springsteen organized a fiesta-themed party at his Colts Neck, New Jersey farm and invited the New York–based band The Gotham Playboys to provide entertainment. The next month, Springsteen was invited to donate a recording to an upcoming tribute album to folk singer Pete Seeger. He re-contacted the Playboys and some additional musicians whom he knew through E Street Band violinist Soozie Tyrell, and recorded a number of songs on November 2, 1997. These included " We Shall Overcome", which was released on the 1998 tribute album, ''Where Have All The Flowers Gone: The Songs Of Pete Seeger''. The group was then disbanded for an extended period.
