The Seaside (Waterford, Connecticut)
The Seaside is a historic medical facility at 36 Shore Road in Waterford, Connecticut. It is nationally significant as the first institution designed for heliotropic treatment of children suffering from tuberculosis. Its buildings "comprise an exceptional collection of fully realized and generally well-preserved Tudor Revival-style institutional architecture", which were designed by Cass Gilbert. and The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995. History The facility was originally built to treat children with tuberculosis and was later used as an elderly home, medical hospital, and a facility to treat the mentally disabled. In the 1930s, it opened for children with tuberculosis. Then in 1958, it was used as an elderly home for three years, after which it was used to treat people with developmental disabilities until 1996. The Seaside (album)
''The Seaside'' is the third demo album from English rock group Cardiacs. The album originally featured the second recording of what would become the band's only hit single, " Is This the Life?". It is the last of the band's releases to feature keyboard player/drummer/singer Mark Cawthra and the first to feature keyboard player William D. Drake (as well as being the only album to feature two other musicians who were briefly Cardiacs members - Graham Simmonds and Marguerite Johnson). The album is composed of material the band had written and performed between 1980 and 1983. Initially ''The Seaside'' was only produced on cassette (as with earlier Cardiacs album releases), and was only made available through the band's fan club and at concerts. It is notable for having been the first formal release on the band's own label, the Alphabet Business Concern, and a showcases a much cleaner, fuller sound than their previous cassette tapes. ''The Seaside EP'' is a rarities release by Chicago artist Owen. It was released on July 7, 2009 by Polyvinyl Records In polymer chemistry, vinyl polymers are a group of polymers derived from substituted vinyl () monomers. Their backbone is an extended alkane chain . In popular usage, "vinyl" refers only to polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Examples Vinyl polymers are ... digitally and as a CD (limited to 3,000 copies). The album was said to ship on June 26, 2009, but was sent out a week earlier as Polyvinyl received them. The EP's cover art was designed by UK illustrator David Blanco. The majority of songs can all be found on Japanese Owen releases, and the last track is from a compilation 2x7". It was re-released on vinyl on Record Store Day 2013.
