The Rough Guide To The Music Of Central America
''The Rough Guide to the Music of Central America'' is a world music compilation album originally released in 2001. Part of the World Music Network Rough Guides series, it has been described as the first comprehensive CD collection of Central American music. The album contains five tracks from Belize, three each from Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica, two from Panama, and one from Guatemala. The compilation was compiled by Daniel Rosenberg, co-ordinated by Duncan Baker and produced by Phil Stanton, co-founder of the World Music Network. Thom Jurek of AllMusic gave the album four stars, calling the music a "revelation" and a "stunning wake-up call". Robert Christgau
Robert Thomas Christgau ( ; born April 18, 1942) is an American music journalist and essayist. Among the most well-known and influential music critics, he began his career in the late 1960s as one of the earliest professional rock critics and later became an early proponent of musical movements such as hip hop, riot grrrl, and the import of African popular music in the West. Christgau spent 37 years as the chief music critic and senior editor for ''The Village Voice'', during which time he created and oversaw the annual Pazz & Jop critics poll. He has also covered popular music for ''Esquire'', '' Creem'', '' Newsday'', ''Playboy'', ''Rolling Stone'', '' Billboard'', NPR, ''Blender'', and '' MSN Music'', and was a visiting arts teacher at New York University. Lincoln Lewis (musician)
Lincoln Clay Lewis (born 24 October 1987) is an Australian actor. He is best known for his roles in the movie '' Tomorrow, When the War Began'' and in the television series ''Home and Away'' and ''Slide''. Early life Lewis was born in Brisbane, Queensland. New Revelation (band)
''Neo-revelationism'' is a term for the beliefs of religious groups, especially Christian or Christianity-derived who claim direct revelation beyond claims of divine inspiration associated with the Christian Bible proper, but the term is also applicable relative to the Baháʼí Faith, and Ahmadiyya movement relative to mainstream Islam, and to Messiah claimants in a context of Judaism. Wilfred Peters
Wilfred Peters (Sr.) MBE (April 15, 1931 – June 9, 2010), better known as Mista Peetaz, was and will always be the King of Brukdown Music (Brukdong Myoozik in Belize Creole) in Belize. He was a pioneer of the music of Belize's Creole (Kriol) people called Brukdown or Brukdong (in Belize Creole). His favourite instrument was the accordion and for that he can also be remembered as a Belizean accordionist. He was also a band leader and toured Europe and North America with his band, the Boom & Chime Band, which is also known as Mista Peetaz Boom and Chime Band. Mr. Peters was also awarded an MBE by Queen Elizabeth in 1997 for his cultural contributions to the development of music. Mr. Peters is a Belize National Icon. Guadalupe Urbina (born 28 October 1959) is a Costa Rican singer-songwriter, poet, and activist. Urbina is a folk musician whose compositions reflect the oral tradition of Guanacaste, her birthplace. She has performed in both Europe and the United States and has won various awards for her work domestically and internationally. Biography Early life Guadalupe Urbina was born 28 October 1959 in Sardinal, Guanacaste, Costa Rica as the youngest of ten children of Nicaraguan immigrants.
