The Righteous (1994 Film)
Marek Halter (born 27 January 1936) is a Polish-born French writer, artist, and human rights activist, who is best known for his historical novels, which have been translated into many languages. He also directed a film, ''The Righteous'', released in 1994. Early life and education Halter is Jewish, and was born in Warsaw, Poland on 27 January 1936. His father, Salomon, was a descendant of a long line of Jewish printers, his mother, Perl, a poet. Their first language was Yiddish. During World War II, two Polish Roman Catholics helped his family escape from the Warsaw Ghetto. He and his parents fled to the Soviet Union spending the remainder of the war in Ukraine and Uzbekistan, where he learned to speak the Uzbek language. In 1945, as a member of Uzbekistan's "Young Pioneers", Marek was selected to go to Moscow to present flowers to Joseph Stalin. ''Pravednik'' or ''Tzadik'' in English (, known as ''The Righteous'' in English) is a 2023 Russian World War II film directed by Sergei Ursuliak. The historical drama film is based on the real story of the Soviet partisan officer the Avenger detachment, Nikolai Kiselev (played by Aleksandr Yatsenko), who saved over 200 Jews from the Nazis in World War II. This film was theatrically released on February 16, 2023. Plot The film takes place in 1942, during the Great Patriotic War (World War II). The film is based on real events that took place during the Second World War between August and October 1942, when Russian soldier and Soviet partisan officer Nikolai Kiselev rescued 218 Jews from the Holocaust. Righteousness
Righteousness is the quality or state of "being morally right or justifiable" rooted in religious or divine law with a broader spectrum of moral correctness, justice, and virtuous living as dictated by a higher authority or set of spiritual beliefs.
