''The Remarkable Life of Ibelin'' is a 2024 Norwegian documentary film directed by Benjamin Ree. The film premiered, under its original title ''Ibelin'', on 19 January 2024 at the Sundance Film Festival where it won 2 awards in the World Documentary Competition—the Audience Award and the Directing Award. Synopsis Mats Steen, a Norwegian man born with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, becomes increasingly unable to participate in everyday activities. Benjamin Ree
Benjamin Ree (born July 10, 1989) is a Norwegian director and cinematographer of several documentaries, including ''Magnus'' (2016), '' The Painter and the Thief'' (2020), and the Peabody Award winning ''The Remarkable Life of Ibelin'' (2024). Early life Ree began making films at the age of eleven and studied journalism at Oslo Metropolitan University. After his studies Ree worked as a freelance videojournalist for BBC and Reuters, most notably covering the 2011 Norway attacks. Ree has said in interviews that making his first feature ''Magnus'' was his film school: "There I understood that I could transfer the interviews to a universal, nonverbal cinematic language." The Amanda Award () is an award given annually at the Norwegian International Film Festival in Haugesund, Norway, to promote and improve Norwegian film. MAMI Mumbai Film Festival 2024
The MAMI Mumbai Film Festival 2024 took place between 19 and 24 October 2024 in Mumbai, India. It was the first edition of the festival under interim festival director Shivendra Singh Dungarpur, following the departure of Anupama Chopra from the festival director position. It was also the first edition of the festival since 2014 to not have a title sponsor. As with the 2023 edition of the festival, the main competition of the festival was limited to filmmakers from South Asia (except Pakistan) and the South Asian diaspora.
