''The Rebel'' is a 76-episode United States, American Westerns on television, Western television series starring Nick Adams (actor, born 1931), Nick Adams that ran on the American Broadcasting Company, ABC network from 1959 to 1961. ''The Rebel'' was one of the few Mark Goodson#Mark Goodson–Bill Todman Productions (1948–1982), Goodson-Todman Productions outside of their game show ventures. Synopsis The series portrays the adventures of young Confederate States Army, Confederate army veteran Johnny Yuma, an aspiring writer, played by Nick Adams. Haunted by his memories of the American Civil War, Yuma, in search of inner peace, roams the American West, specifically the Texas Hill Country and South Plains. Philip Henry Sheridan (March 6, 1831 – August 5, 1888) was a career United States Army officer and a Union general in the American Civil War. His career was noted for his rapid rise to major general and his close association with General-in-chief Ulysses S. Grant, who transferred Sheridan from command of an infantry division in the Western Theater to lead the Cavalry Corps of the Army of the Potomac in the East. In 1864, he defeated Confederate forces under General Jubal Early in the Shenandoah Valley and his destruction of the economic infrastructure of the Valley, called "The Burning" by residents, was one of the first uses of scorched-earth tactics in the war. Charles Leonard Aidman (January 21, 1925 – November 7, 1993) was an American stage, film and television actor. Early life Aidman was born in Frankfort, Indiana, the son of George E. and Etta (Kwitny) Aidman. Aidman graduated from Frankfort High School and attended DePauw University prior to serving as a gunnery officer in the United States Navy during World War II. John M. Pickard (June 25, 1913 – August 4, 1993) was an American actor who appeared primarily in television Westerns. Early life Pickard was born in Lascassas in Rutherford County, near Murfreesboro in Middle Tennessee. He graduated from the Nashville Conservatory in Nashville, Tennessee.
