The Pod
''The Pod'' is the second studio album by American rock band Ween. It was released on September 20, 1991, by Shimmy-Disc. Production The album was recorded from January to October 1990, at the Pod on Van Sant Road in Solebury Township, Pennsylvania. Recording concluded one month prior to the release of their GodWeenSatan: The Oneness, debut on November 16. The album was derived from two tapes titled the ''Bilboa'' tape and the ''Big Timmy Wasserman'' tape. Both tapes contain not only demo versions of songs on the album, but many outtakes not used on any album or tracks used on future albums. All of the songs have a muddy quality to them, due to being recorded on a Tascam Multitrack recording, four-track cassette recorder, and many of the vocals are manipulated in strange ways. His early discovery led 3M scientists to develop the formula for Scotchgard, discovered by accident in 1953 when Joan Mullan—a 3M lab technician—spilled a few drops of a fluorochemical liquid destined for rubber jet fuel hoses onto her tennis shoes. ''Chocolate and Cheese'' is the fourth studio album by the American rock band Ween, first released on September 27, 1994, through Elektra Records. It was the first Ween album to be recorded in a professional studio, in contrast to the four-track home recordings of ''The Pod'' and '' Pure Guava''. However, most of the instruments were still played by Dean and Gene Ween, including their drum machine. After self-producing their previous album, ''Pure Guava'' (1992), the band reunited with Andrew Weiss to produce the album. Its broad sound has been described as "genre-hopping", prominently featuring styles of music including psychedelia, country, funk, industrial, and Latin music. ''The Best of Leonard Cohen'' is a greatest hits album by Leonard Cohen, released in 1975. In some European countries, it was released under the title ''Greatest Hits''. This alternative title was used for the original vinyl release and for CD reissues from the 1980s onwards. Background According to Ira Nadel's 1996 Cohen memoir '' Various Positions'', Cohen agreed to the project because there was a new generation of listeners and he was given complete artistic control; he picked the songs, designed the package, and insisted that the lyrics be included. The album was not a hit in the United States but did well in Europe, Cohen's major market at the time. He toured in support of the album in 1976, beginning in Berlin on April 22 and ending in London on July 7. ''Lemonade and Brownies'' is the debut studio album by the American rock band Sugar Ray, released on April 4, 1995, by Atlantic Records. It was far less successful than the band's later releases on Atlantic. The debut album and the band's next album '' Floored'' also featured less of a pop-influenced sound than their later work. Background When the band got signed to Atlantic Records they had only four to five songs, including "Caboose" and "Big Black Woman" (which were featured on ''Lemonade and Brownies'') and two other songs called "Lick Me" and "Gold Digger". Prior to getting signed, they had primarily been a cover band, and were known as Shrinky Dinx. Sugar Ray
Sugar Ray is an American rock band formed in Newport Beach, California, in 1986. Originally playing heavier funk metal and nu metal style music, the band achieved mainstream popularity in 1997 with their more pop-influenced single " Fly". The song's success led the band to shift its style dramatically to the more radio-friendly pop sound with their subsequent releases. Their best-selling album, '' 14:59'', was released in 1999, and featured popular singles " Every Morning", " Someday", followed by a self-titled album in 2001 featuring the single " When It's Over".
