The Play Of Everyman
''The Play of Everyman'' is American poet and playwright George Sterling's adaptation of Austrian writer Hugo von Hofmannsthal's 1911 German play ''Jedermann (play), Jedermann''. Lavish productions of ''The Play of Everyman'' in 1917 and 1936 were acclaimed by critics and boosted the careers of people involved. Sterling's adaptation was also staged in 1941 in New York City and 1977 in Brentwood, Los Angeles. Creation of ''The Play of Everyman'' Austrian writer Hugo von Hofmannsthal combined the Middle English play ''Everyman'' with three other medieval plays to make one new play in German: ''Jedermann (play), Jedermann: Das Spiel vom Sterben des reichen Mannes''. Victor L. Schertzinger (April 8, 1888 – October 26, 1941) was an American composer, film director, film producer, and screenwriter. Bowman-Biltmore Hotels was a hotel chain created by the hotel magnate John McEntee Bowman. Johannes Poulsen
Johannes Poulsen (17 November 1881 – 14 October 1938) was a Denmark, Danish actor and director. He debuted with the Dagmar Theatre in 1901. In 1909 he joined the Royal Danish Theatre, Royal Theatre as an actor, and from 1917 was also a stage director. Memorable roles included Peer Gynt, Shylock, Henry VIII (play), Henry VIII and the fool in ''Twelfth Night''. Poulsen debuted on film in 1910 with Regia Art Films, and later starred in four films for Nordisk Film. George Hackathorne
George Hackathorne (February 13, 1896 – June 25, 1940) was an American actor of the silent era. He appeared in more than 50 films between 1916 and 1939. Hackathorne was born and educated in Pendleton, Oregon. Despite his mother's wishes that he get a college education, he chose to be an actor. He began his career as a child actor in stock theater, after which he performed in vaudeville. He and his brother had a dramatic act that toured the United States. On June 25, 1940, Hackathorne died in Hollywood, California, at age 44. He was buried in Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Ann Andrews (October 13, 1890 – January 23, 1986) was an American stage actress. Biography Andrews's parents were Josias J. Andrews and Ann (''née'' Anthony). She attended Frank Egan's Dramatic School in Los Angeles and made her stage debut in 1916 in the same city.
