The Panther (horse)
The Panther (8 February 1916 – October 1931) was a British Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. In a career that lasted from May 1918 to October 1919 he ran seven times and won three races. Although he ran only three times in 1918, he was rated the best British two-year-old of the year on the strength of his win in the Autumn Stakes. The following spring he won the Classic 2000 Guineas at Newmarket. He started favourite for The Derby but finished unplaced after becoming distressed before the race. He failed to recover his form in two subsequent races and was retired to a stud career in Argentina. He was returned to Britain shortly before his death in 1931. Background The Panther was a brown horse officially bred by the British National Stud. He was sired by August Belmont Jr.'s American-bred St Leger winner Tracery out of Countess Zia, a mare owned by Lord Wavertree. ''The Panthers'' is a New Zealand drama television miniseries created and executive produced by Halaifonua Finau and Tom Hern in association with Four Knights Film studio. Set during the 1970s, the series focuses on the emergence of the Polynesian Panthers against the backdrop of the controversial dawn raids. The series was released by public broadcaster TVNZ on 15 August on TVNZ 1 and TVNZ On Demand. "The Panther" (subtitled: "In Jardin des Plantes, Paris"; german: Der Panther: Im Jardin des Plantes, Paris) is a poem by Rainer Maria Rilke written between 1902 and 1903. It describes a captured panther behind bars, as it was exhibited in the Ménagerie of the Jardin des Plantes in Paris. It is one of Rilke's most famous poems and has been translated into English many times, including by many distinguished translators of Rilke, like Stephen Mitchell, C. F. MacIntyre, J. B. Leishman and Walter Arndt, Jessie Lamont and poets like Robert Bly. It is used in the film ''Awakenings'' (1990) by the protagonist Leonard Lowe as a metaphor for his physical disability. Dark Panther (born 1998) is the ring name of a Mexican '' luchador enmascarado'' (or masked professional wrestler), currently working for the Mexican professional wrestling promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL). He portrays a '' tecnico'' ("Good guy") wrestling character. His real name is not a matter of public record, as is often the case with masked wrestlers in Mexico where their private lives are kept a secret from the wrestling fans. The Panther (Sam Brushell)
The Panther was a Mohegan Indian who lived in the Town of Richfield in Otsego County, New York in the beginning to mid 1800s. He was the son of an Indian named Captain John. Biography Brushell's father was known as Captain John; they had a wigwam for a time built on Tunnicliff land near a lake. After his father's death he moved back to the Connecticut Valley where he and his father had moved from. He remained there a few years and then returned to the grave of his father, and build a Wigwam on the Chamberlin Farm in the Town of Richfield. The Panthers F.C. is an Equatoguinean football club based in the city of Malabo. The club was founded in 1997. Their home ground is the Nuevo Estadio de Malabo which holds a capacity of 15,250, their ground was built in 2007 primarily to host the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.
