The Outlaws (2017 Film)
The Outlaws, also written as The Roundup:The Outlaws, () is a 2017 South Korean crime action film written and directed by Kang Yoon-sung, and starring Ma Dong-seok, and Yoon Kye-sang. It was released on October 3, 2017. Set in 2004, the film revolves around Detective Ma Seok-do, who tries to control the gang-wars between Korean Chinese in Korea, Chinese-Korean gangs while also dealing with a ruthless loan shark named Jang-Chen. The film is based on a May 2004 incident in the Chinatown of Garibong-dong, Guro District, Seoul, Guro-gu, Seoul when 14 Chinese-Koreans from the "Wang Geon-i faction" were arrested on charges of attempted murder, and an April 2007 incident in which 7 members of the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, Yanbian organization "Heuksa-pa", also based in the Garibong-dong, were arrested and 26 were indicted without Detention (imprisonment), detention. Kang Yun-seong (director)
Kang Yun-seong (; born September 6, 1971) is a South Korean film director and scriptwriter. His first feature-length directorial film, ''The Outlaws'', starring Ma Dong-seok and Yoon Kye-sang, received rave reviews. Early years and education When Kang was young, he developed a fondness for movies because his mother had a strong passion for them. They would often watch Weekend Movies together. As a high school senior, Kang's interest in filmmaking grew when he saw actor Yoon Seok-hwa on a TV talk show, fueling his dream of becoming a director. Despite majoring in physics at Kyung Hee University, Kang found himself more engrossed in film club activities than his studies. ''The Roundup'' () is a 2022 South Korean action crime film directed by Lee Sang-yong, starring Ma Dong-seok, Son Suk-ku, Choi Gwi-hwa, and Park Ji-hwan.
