The Moomins (TV Series)
''The Moomins'' (, ) is a stop motion animated television series, animated children's television series based on the Tove Jansson's Moomin series of books which was produced by Se-ma-for and Jupiter Film between 1977 and 1982 for Polish, Austrian and German television. The original broadcast in Poland premiered on November 19, 1978. The series was later sold to other countries including the UK. The British version was adapted by Anne Wood at FilmFair for ITV Central and broadcast in the UK. Series 1 was first shown on Monday 24 January 1983 at 4:15 pm and series 2 on Monday 7 January 1985 at 4.15pm on CITV, Children's ITV, and series 2 was repeated in 1986. The series was last repeated in its entirety in 1988. The series was also U.S. aired on Broadcast syndication in October 1983 to June 1987 and later shown on PBS on August 1985 to December 1994. Se-ma-for was a Polish film and animation studio. Founded in Łódź, Poland in 1947, the company has created many animated cartoons and stop motion animations for young and older audiences. The name, meaning literally ''Se-ma-phore'', is an acronym of ''Studio Małych Form Filmowych'' - Studio of Small Film Forms. The studio was shut down in 2018. Its most famous productions include the children's shows: '' Miś Uszatek'', '' Tots TV'', '' Przygody misia Colargola'', '' The Moomins'' (pol. FilmFair
FilmFair was a British production company and animation studio that produced children's television series, animated television series, educational films, and television advertisements. The company made numerous stop motion films using puppets, clay animation, and cutout animation. History Foundation FilmFair was founded in 1959 by American animator Gus Jekel in Los Angeles, California. After working with Walt Disney Productions and other Hollywood animation studios in the 1930s, Jekel incorporated FilmFair because he wanted the freedom to create live action work as well. The studio was in Animation Alley, a stretch of Cahuenga Boulevard that runs through Studio City in northern Los Angeles. Jekel's company produced television advertisements—some animated, others live action—and was extremely successful; even Disney was a client. Moominland Midwinter
''Moominland Midwinter'' ( Swedish title: ''Trollvinter'') is the sixth in the series of Tove Jansson's Moomin books, published in 1957. This book sees Jansson adopt a darker, more introspective tone compared to the earlier books that is continued in the remainder of the series. Often in the book Moomintroll is either lonely, miserable, angry or scared - the result of being forced to survive in a world to which he feels he does not belong. ''Tales from Moominvalley'' (, literally 'The Invisible Child and other stories') is the seventh book in the ''Moomins'' series by Finnish author Tove Jansson. ''Finn Family Moomintroll'' (original Swedish title ''Trollkarlens hatt'', ‘The Magician's Hat’; US edition ''The Happy Moomins'') is the third in the series of Tove Jansson's Moomins books, published in Swedish in 1948 and translated to English in 1950. It owes its title in translation to the fact that it was the first Moomin book to be published in English, and was actually marketed as the first in the series until the 1980s. The 1961 English publication features a foreword "by Moominmamma", where she explains the nature of Moomins for fear that English children may not have heard of them; she also apologises for her "rottn" English. Hans Clarin
Hans Clarin (14 September 1929 – 28 August 2005) was a German actor. He became a well-known voice actor of characters in children audio plays, particularly the kobold '' Pumuckl'' (including its TV and cinematic film adaptations), the German voice of René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo's diminutive Gaulish hero Asterix (in circa 30 German audioplay adaptations of the ''Asterix'' comic books, produced and published 1986-1992 under the Europa label), and the ghost '' Hui Buh''. Richard Murdoch
Richard Bernard Murdoch (6 April 1907 – 9 October 1990) was an English actor and entertainer. After early professional experience in the chorus in musical comedy, Murdoch quickly moved on to increasingly prominent roles in musical comedy and revue in the West End and on tour. He made his first radio broadcast for the BBC in 1932 and in 1937 and 1938 he featured in early television broadcasts. He came to national fame when cast with the comedian Arthur Askey in the radio show '' Band Waggon'' in 1938. Their contrasting styles appealed to the public and they took a version of the show on tour to theatres around the country and made a film adaptation of it.
