''The Mistress'' (German: ''Die Geliebte'') is a 1927 Cinema of Germany, German silent film, silent drama film directed by Robert Wiene and starring Edda Croy, Harry Liedtke and Eugen Burg. It was based on a play by Alexander Brody (playwright), Alexander Brody. It was the first film Wiene made after returning to Germany after two years working in Austria, although the film's location shooting was done in Vienna, where the story is set.Jung & Schatzberg p.138 The interiors were shot at the Marienfelde Studios of Terra Film in Berlin. The Master, or "Missy" (short for "Mistress") in their female incarnation, is a recurring character and one of the main antagonists of the British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who'' and its associated spin-off works. Multiple actors have played the Master since the character's introduction in 1971. A Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey, she is a companion (Doctor Who), companion to the Fourth Doctor.
