''The Market of Life'' (German: ''Jahrmarkt des Lebens'') is a 1928 German silent film directed by Béla Balogh and starring Gustav Fröhlich, Hans Mierendorff and Vera Schmiterlöw.Lamprecht p.750 The film's sets were designed by the art director Karl Machus. It was released in Britain in 1929. Béla Balogh (1 January 1885 in Székesfehérvár – 30 March 1945 in Budapest) was a Hungary, Hungarian film director, one of the most prominent of the early 20th century. He was prominent in both silent and voiced productions and is most known for movies like ''Havi 200 fix'', ''Ópiumkeringő'', and ''Úrilány szobát keres''. Biography Béla Balogh was born on 1 January 1885, in Székesfehérvár, as a child of a theatrical family. His grandfather, István Balogh was a playwright, his aunt and uncle were successful actors, and his father, Gusztáv Balogh was a conductor, touring the country with different companies. Out of his eleven siblings - him being the youngest - only two, a sister and a brother survived. Wilhelm Diegelmann
Wilhelm Diegelmann (28 September 1861 – 1 March 1934) was a German actor. Career Diegelmann's first stage appearance was in 1878 in the chorus for the Frankfurt Opera. In 1881 he debuted at the Frankfurt City Theater, playing King Lear, William Tell, and other title characters. Sometime around 1900, Diegelmann relocated to Berlin. Here, he appeared at a variety of theaters, including the Deutsches Theater, the Großes Schauspielhaus, and the Deutsches Künstlertheater. Diegelmann was introduced to film in 1913 by Max Reinhardt. He became a prolific actor of supporting roles, often as a father figure.
