The Magic House (puppet Show)
''The Magic House'' is a British Children's television series, children's television Cartoon series, animation puppetry, puppet show created by Joe Austen, that was broadcast on Scottish Television from 7 January 1994 to 30 July 1996. The television programme was adapted from a series of children's books written and illustrated by Austen in the early 1980s. The show's 52 10-minute episodes were aired across the ITV (TV network), ITV Network between 1994 and 1996. As well as the television episodes, a spin-off series of books was also produced, written and illustrated by Joe Austen. The show, which featured Uncle Teapot, Kitty Kettle, Barney Bin and other characters based on household items, proved a success with the characters appearing in adverts for the Trustee Savings Bank for children's savings accounts. Joe Austen
Joseph Gerard "Joe" Austen is a British artist, writer, producer and director from St Andrews, Scotland. Since 1976, a collection of his paintings have been on display in The Gallery of Champions within the Rusacks Hotel, St Andrews, Scotland. For the 150th The Open Championship in St. Andrews in 2010, six of golf’s greatest champions were made Honorees of The Gallery of Champions when Joe Austen painted their portraits. Those portraits are now a permanent part of the gallery. Honorees included Tony Jacklin CBE, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player DMS; OIG, Sandy Lyle MBE and Roberto De Vicenzo. Series 1
The IBM Series/1 is a 16-bit minicomputer, introduced in 1976, that in many respects competed with other minicomputers of the time, such as the PDP-11 from Digital Equipment Corporation and similar offerings from Data General and HP. The Series/1 was typically used to control and operate external electro-mechanical components while also allowing for primitive data storage and handling. Although the Series/1 uses EBCDIC character encoding internally and locally attached EBCDIC terminals, ASCII-based remote terminals and devices could be attached via an I/O card with a RS-232 interface to be more compatible with competing minicomputers. IBM's own 3101 and 3151 ASCII display terminals are examples of this. This was a departure from IBM mainframes that used 3270 terminals and coaxial attachment.
