The Lock Up is headquartered in Northfield, Illinois, and currently manages more than two million square feet of storage. History The Lock Up was founded in 1976 by Robert Soudan and Charles Sample, who built their first self-storage facility in Northbrook, Illinois. Later, Soudan’s son, Bob Soudan, Jr., took over as president of The Lock Up. Soudan Jr. has also served as regional president, director and national president of the Self Storage Association. Facilities The Lock Up provides clients with options like carpeted units, security cameras, controlled access, climate control and wine storage. The Lock Up (TV Series)
''The Lock Up'' is an observational documentary series following the staff of the custody suite at Priory Road Police Station in Hull. It was first broadcast on 4 February 2011 on BBC Three. The first eight-part series was filmed over the course of a year; during the year, around 6,500 prisoners passed through the suite, and the issues custody officers had to deal with included attempted suicides and a range of troubled people including drug addicts, minors and violent individuals. The first series was shown on BBC Three and repeated on BBC One. The second series made its debut on BBC One on 28 August 2012. The series is narrated by Dutch-born British actress Chasity Van Velzen. The Lock-Up (art Gallery)
The Lock-Up is a public art gallery in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia. The gallery is located in a former police station and holding cells, which is listed on the New South Wales State Heritage Register. From 1861 until 1982, the building used for The Lock-Up operated as a police station and holding cells for short-term prisoners. After the police station closed, the site became the Hunter Heritage Centre in 1988, which included a museum and an art gallery. The space was re-launch as The Lock-Up in September 2014, as a dedicated multidisciplinary contemporary art gallery. The exhibitions spaces includes several cells, a padded cell, an indoor exercise yard for prisoners, and a considerable amount of graffiti created by prisoners, all of which have been maintained in their original form following its conversation into an art gallery.
