The Live Wire (1925 Film)
''The Live Wire'' is a 1925 American comedy film directed by Charles Hines and written by John W. Krafft. The film stars Johnny Hines, Edmund Breese, Mildred Ryan, J. Barney Sherry, Bradley Barker, and Flora Finch. The film was released on September 20, 1925, by First National Pictures. Plot As described in a film magazine reviews, The Great Maranelli, who does a head slide on a wire for a circus, is forced to give up this work. He becomes a salesman for a light and power company owned by Henry Langdon. Langdon has started an amusement park in partnership with George Trent, who seeks to gain entire control by telling Langdon that he cannot sell the concessions. Langdon gives his stock to his daughter Dorothy, who engages Maranelli and Sawdust Sam to help her. Maranelli soon disposes of the concessions. Charles Hines (director)
Charles Hines (1892–1936) was an American actor and film director of the silent era.Munden p. 359 Born in Pennsylvania, he was the second of three brothers who had careers in the new film industry. He died at the age of 43 in Los Angeles, California. His younger brother, actor Johnny Hines, appeared in 50 films, mostly during the silent era. Hines directed him in some of these films. Their older brother Samuel E. Hines had mostly bit-parts in silents. Richard Washburn Child (August 5, 1881 – January 31, 1935) was an American author and diplomat. Both during and after his service as United States Ambassador to Italy, he was a well-known promoter of fascism, in particular Italian Fascism, in the early 20th century. Early life and career Born in Worcester, Massachusetts, in 1881, Child went to Harvard University and Law School where he graduated in 1906 to become a business lawyer. Child founded the Progressive Republican League in Massachusetts, a forerunner of the Progressive Party. During World War I, he worked first as a correspondent in Europe and Russia, then for the U.S. Treasury, writing propaganda. In 1916 he published a book, calling for U.S. investment in Russia.
