''The Ledge'' is a 2011 American thriller film, thriller drama film written and directed by Matthew Chapman (author), Matthew Chapman, starring Charlie Hunnam, Terrence Howard, Liv Tyler, Christopher Gorham, and Patrick Wilson. It was released on July 8, 2011, being a box office bomb and panned by critics. Plot Detective Hollis Lucetti (Terrence Howard) receives news from a doctor that he has been Sterility (physiology), sterile his entire life. Upon reaching home, he questions his wife about who their children's father is. The story switches to Gavin Nichols (Charlie Hunnam), an Atheism, atheist, standing on the ledge of a tall building as if to jump to his death. A small crowd forms below Gavin, and Hollis responds to the emergency. At first it looks like a regular suicide attempt. "The Ledge" is a short story by Stephen King, first published in the July 1976 issue of '' Penthouse'', and later collected in King's 1978 collection ''Night Shift''. Plot summary King employs a first person narrator and opens with the protagonist, Stan Norris, in the clutches of Cressner, a wealthy, cruel criminal overlord. Cressner intends to get revenge on Norris, who has been having an affair with his wife. "The Ledge" is a song by the British-American rock band Fleetwood Mac, released in 1979. It is the second song from the multi-platinum ''Tusk'' album and was composed by Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham. The band rehearsed "The Ledge" several times for the Tusk Tour, although it was ultimately not included in the set. Background "The Ledge" was introduced to the band under the working title "Can't Walk Out of Here" in June 1978. During that session, Buckingham was the last to arrive at the studio, which was uncharacteristic of him according to Ken Caillat, who served as the producer for the ''Tusk'' sessions. The Alberta Legislature Building, located in Edmonton, is the meeting place of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta and the Executive Council of Alberta. It is often shortened to "the Ledge". Operation Krohcol
Operation Krohcol, or the Battle for The Ledge, was a British operation in December 1941 to invade southern Thailand following the Japanese invasion of Malaya and of Thailand during World War II. It was authorised by Lieutenant-General Arthur Percival as a "mini Matador" after Operation Matador, a pre-emptive strike into Thailand which had been opposed by the British government and was not carried out. Due to delays in authorisation by Percival and in the forwarding of his order, the need to reorganise the troops for Krohcol instead of Matador, and resistance from Thai policemen the Kroh column did not reach the Ledge in time.
