The Kinks Discography
The Kinks, an English rock band, were active for over three decades, from 1963 to 1996, releasing 26 studio albums and four live albums. The first two albums are differently released in the UK and the US, partly due to the difference in popularity of the extended play format (the UK market liked it, the US market did not, so US albums had the EP releases bundled onto them), and partly due to the US albums including the hit singles, and the UK albums not; after '' The Kink Kontroversy'' in 1965 the albums were the same. Between 100 and 200 compilation albums have been released worldwide. Their hit singles included three UK number-one singles, starting in 1964 with "You Really Got Me"; plus 18 top-40 singles in the 1960s alone and further top-40 hits in the 1970s and 1980s. The Kinks
The Kinks were an English rock band formed in London in 1963 by brothers Ray Davies, Ray and Dave Davies, and Pete Quaife. They are regarded as one of the most influential rock bands of the 1960s. The Official Albums Chart is the United Kingdom's industry-recognised national record chart for album, albums. Entries are ranked by sales and audio streaming. It was published for the first time on 22 July 1956 and is compiled every week by the Official Charts Company (OCC) on Fridays (previously Sundays). It is broadcast on BBC Radio 1 (top 5) and found on the OCC website as a Top 100 or on ''UKChartsPlus'' as a Top 200, with positions continuing until all sales have been tracked in data only available to industry insiders. However, even though number 100 was classed as a hit album (as in the case of ''The Guinness Book of British Hit Albums'') in the 1980s until January 1989, since the compilations were removed, this definition was changed to Top 75 with follow-up books such as ''The Virgin Book of British Hit Albums'' only including this data. ''Kinks-Size'' is a studio album by the English rock band the Kinks. Released in the United States and Canada in March1965, it was their second album issued on Reprise Records. It peaked at number 13 on the ''Billboard'' album chart in the third week of June1965, the same week the Kinks began their first US tour. It is the Kinks' fourth-highest-charting album on the ''Billboard'' album chart and the second-highest of their 1960s albums. The album ranked number 78 on ''Billboard'' year-end album chart for 1965. Reprise issued the album to capitalise on the nation-wide publicity generated by the band's February1965 appearance on the musical variety programme '' Hullabaloo''.; : (February1965). ''Kinks'' is the debut studio album by the English Rock music, rock band the Kinks. It was released on in the United Kingdom by Pye Records. The original United States release, issued by Reprise Records on , omits three tracks and is instead titled ''You Really Got Me''. The album was re-released in 1998 in the UK on Castle Records with twelve bonus tracks. This reissue was itself reissued in 2004 on the Sanctuary Records, Sanctuary label. A deluxe edition was released on 28 March 2011. Reception ''Consequence of Sound'' listed the album as a key example of proto-punk, observing "lean aggression" and a "jolting", "in-your-face" approach, and described their rendition of Chuck Berry's "Beautiful Delilah" as the first punk rock cover. It is published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine to convey the popularity of an artist or groups of artists. The chart grew from a weekly top 10 list in 1956 to become a top 200 list in May 1967, acquiring its existing name in March 1992. Sverigetopplistan (, lit. "the Sweden top list") is the Swedish national record chart, based on sales data from IFPI Sverige. It was formerly known as Topplistan (1975–1997) and Hitlistan (1998–2007) and has been known by its current name since October 2007. Before Topplistan, music sales in Sweden were recorded by Kvällstoppen, whose weekly chart was a combined albums and singles list. History For the period of 1976 to 2006, the official Swedish music charts were published by Sveriges Radio P3, a station owned by Sveriges Radio. The Official Aotearoa Music Charts, formerly the Official New Zealand Music Chart (), is the weekly New Zealand top 40 singles and albums charts, issued weekly by Recorded Music NZ (formerly Recording Industry Association of New Zealand). The Music Chart also includes the top 40 Hot Singles chart, the top 20 New Zealand artist singles and albums, the top 20 Hot New Zealand singles, and top 10 compilation albums. VG-lista is the primary Norwegian record chart, charting albums and singles from Norwegian and international artists. It is presented weekly in the newspaper ''Verdens Gang, VG''. The data is collected by Nielsen SoundScan, Nielsen Soundscan International and based on the sales in approximately 100 shops in Norway. The singles chart started as a top 10 chart in week 42 of 1958 and was expanded to a top 20 chart in week 5 of 1995, the same time as the albums chart, which started as a top 20 chart in week 1 of 1967, was expanded to a top 40 chart.
