The Hits was a music video Television channel, channel broadcast in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland, Ireland, owned by Box Television. On 15 August 2008 it was rebranded as 4Music. Overview and availability The channel showcased a range of popular music, pop centred on chart hits and current favourites. Originally, the vast majority of music videos were selected by viewers by means of calling a premium-rate telephone number, however the policy was abandoned with the channel playing an automated selection of videos and countdown shows presented by celebrities and singers past and present. Programming was often themed to coincide with events such as St. Patrick's Day and Christmas. The channel was available free-to-air on the United Kingdom, British digital terrestrial television service Freeview (UK), Freeview on channel 18. ''The Hits & Beyond'' is the second greatest hits album by Australian singer Dannii Minogue. It was released by All Around the World Records on 16 June 2006 in Ireland and the United Kingdom on 19 June 2006. The album was then released by Central Station Records in New Zealand on 4 August 2006 and Australia on 7 August 2006. The compilation is Minogue's first release with All Around the World Records and second greatest hits album; the first being the 1998 Australian-only budget release, '' The Singles''. ''Hits'' - also commonly known as ''The Hits Album'' - is a long-running compilation album series containing contemporary chart music. It originally ran in the United Kingdom and parts of Europe for over twenty years from 1984 until 2006. It was compiled as a joint venture, variously between the compilation arms of the Sony Music, RCA/ BMG, and Warner Music groups to rival the '' Now That's What I Call Music'' series that had launched a year earlier in 1983, compiled by rival companies EMI and Virgin. Initially, the ''Hits'' brand was arguably as popular as its main rival and all of the first eight volumes achieved at least a platinum BPI award, with several of the very early albums going multi-platinum. ''The Hits/The B-Sides'' is a box set by American recording artist Prince. It was released on September 10, 1993, by Paisley Park Records and Warner Bros. Records. The album is a comprehensive three- disc set consisting of many of his hit singles and fan favorites. Album information Discs one and two were released separately, under the titles '' The Hits 1'' and '' The Hits 2'' respectively, but '' The B-Sides'' disc could only be obtained by purchasing the full set. The separate ''Hits'' discs and the full set were all released on the same day. Most of the songs (A-side and B-sides) on ''The Hits/The B-Sides'' are represented in their edited single form. Exceptions to this were " Alphabet St.", " 7", " Little Red Corvette", " Sexy MF", " Let's Go Crazy", and " Purple Rain". Perfect Stranger (band)
Perfect Stranger was an American country music band founded in 1986 in the state of Texas by Steve Murray (lead vocals), Andy Ginn (drums), Shayne Morrison (bass guitar) and Richard Raines (guitar). After several years of performing throughout Texas, the quartet released an independent album in 1994; this album was later picked up by Curb Records, who re-packaged and re-released it a year later. By 1995, its second single (entitled " You Have the Right to Remain Silent") had become a Top 5 hit on the ''Billboard'' Hot Country Singles & Tracks (now Hot Country Songs) charts. Although Perfect Stranger never entered Top 40 on the country charts again, the band continued to perform and record throughout the 1990s, charting several more singles before eventually exiting Curb in the late 1990s. Ladysmith Black Mambazo are a South African male choral group singing in the local vocal styles of ''isicathamiya'' and ''mbube (genre), mbube''. They became known internationally after singing with American Paul Simon on his 1986 album ''Graceland (album), Graceland.''
