"The Haunted Mask" is the series premiere of the television series ''Goosebumps (1995 TV series), Goosebumps''. The episode is based on The Haunted Mask, the book of the same name by R. L. Stine and is about Carly Beth, a timid girl who buys a Halloween mask that soon begins merging with her face. It first aired on October 27, 1995 in the United States on the Fox Broadcasting Company, Fox network, where it was viewed by 7.9 million households. In Canada, where the episode was filmed, it aired one day later on the YTV (TV channel), YTV network. At the time, it had almost 3 million viewers and was YTV's highest-rated episode. Goosebumps (1995 TV Series)
''Goosebumps'' is a children's anthology horror television series based on R. L. Stine's best-selling book series of the same name. It is an anthology of stories about tweens and young teens finding themselves in creepy and unusual situations, typically involving supernatural elements or the occult. Production ''Goosebumps'' was filmed largely in Ontario, Canada, with different houses and historic properties in Toronto, Markham and other outlying rural areas serving often as the sets for each episode rather than constructing artificial houses and buildings. Ontario also provided a more affordable filming location and an aesthetic that could double as American while maintaining ambiguity in terms of location and setting. Props for the series were designed by Ron Stefaniuk and Alan Doucette, while Stefaniuk retained many of the animatronic props at his own studio after ''Goosebumps'' was cancelled. Stine. 62 books were published under the '' Goosebumps'' umbrella title from 1992 to 1997; the first was ''Welcome to Dead House''; the last was ''Monster Blood IV''.
