The Girl And Death
''The Girl and Death'' () is a 2012 Dutch film directed by Jos Stelling. Plot ''The Girl and Death'' is a love story of Nicolai and Elise (a courtesan). Their love is obstructed by materialism, wealth, and death. The film, based on an original script by Jos Stelling and Bert Rijkelijkhuizen, tells the story of the Russian physician Nicolai, who returns to an old hotel, the place where he first met his great love half a century ago and relives his romantic tragedy. A large part of the film is set in the late nineteenth century, and the action takes place in an abandoned hotel/sanatorium in , Thuringia where most of the film was also shot. The hotel still bears the traces of past glory. Eventually, it becomes clear why Nicolai has really returned. Jos Stelling
Jos Stelling (born 16 July 1945) is a Dutch film director and screenwriter. Career He made his debut as a film director in 1974 with ''Mariken van Nieumegen'', which was selected for the official Cannes competition in 1975. In 1981 he founded the Dutch Film Days a festival for Dutch directors to give them the possibility to show their films and to create an informal platform for the filmmakers. He continued to serve as chairman and director until the 1991 edition. After he abdicated the festival was renamed the Dutch Film Festival. In 1989 he was a member of the jury at the 16th Moscow International Film Festival. In 2002 he was a member of the jury at the 24th Moscow International Film Festival. He was also the president of the jury of the 1st Odesa International Film Festival. Stelling is founder and owner of two arthouse cinemas in Utrecht, Springhaver (since 1978) & Louis Hartlooper Complex (since 2004). Renata Muratovna Litvinova (born 12 January 1967) is a Russian actress, film director, and screenwriter. Biography Was born in Moscow to Volga Tatars, Volga Tatar father Murat Aminovich Vergazov and a Russians, Russian mother, Alisa Mikhailovna Litvinova. Both her parents were doctors. Biography Svetlichnaya was born in the city of Leninakan (now Gyumri), Armenian SSR, Soviet Union on 15 May 1940 to Afanasy Mikhailovich Svetlichnyi and Maria Feodorovna Zolotareva. Dieter "Didi" Hallervorden (born 5 September 1935) is a German actor, comedian, cabaret artist and singer. Early life Leonid Bichevin was born in Klimovsk, Moscow Oblast, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union (now Russia). In his youth he was engaged in music, and played in a band on the guitar.
