The Forces Of Evil
The Forces of Evil was an Orange County–based ska punk band, formed in January 2001 with the intention of creating a ska supergroup, being the side project of fellow ska punk band Reel Big Fish. The band released their only album, '' Friend or Foe?'', in 2003. They split in 2005 after releasing a four-song EP, which was available on their website. History Aaron Evil, guitar (Aaron Barrett), of Reel Big Fish fame, formed The Forces Of Evil in January 2001 by recruiting three members of the then recently defunct ska group Jeffries Fan Club at their farewell concert, Justin Evil, drums (Justin Ferreira), Chris Evil, trombone (Chris Colonnier) and Derek Evil, bass ( Derek Gibbs). Sublime is an American ska punk band from Long Beach, California, that plays a mix of ska, punk, and reggae. Formed in 1988, the band's original lineup consisted of Bradley Nowell (vocals and guitar), Eric Wilson (bass), and Bud Gaugh (drums). Lou Dog, Nowell's dalmatian, was the mascot of the band. Nowell died of a heroin overdose in 1996, resulting in the band's breakup. Ska (; , ) is a music genre that originated in Jamaica in the late 1950s and was the precursor to rocksteady and reggae. It combined elements of Caribbean mento and calypso with American jazz and rhythm and blues. Ska is characterized by a walking bass line accented with rhythms on the off beat. ''Cheer Up!'' is the fourth studio album by American rock band Reel Big Fish. Released on June 25, 2002, the album was the band's first after the turn of the new millennium, following the release of 1998's '' Why Do They Rock So Hard?'' With the advent of the 2000s, and following the band's mainstream success during the third wave of ska, the marketability of and interest in ska waned; despite this, Reel Big Fish continued to tour successfully and maintain a significant fan base while recording ''Cheer Up!'' across a number of different recording studios in California. Ska punk (also spelled ska-punk) is a fusion genre that mixes ska music and punk rock music. John Christianson (musician)
John Aaron Christianson (November 23, 1923 – December 15, 2010) was a politician and educator in Manitoba. He served in the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba as a Progressive Conservative from 1959 to 1962 and was a cabinet minister in the government of Dufferin Roblin. Christianson was born in Langruth, Manitoba, Canada. He was educated at the University of Manitoba, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked as an automobile and implement agent, and was the president of Christianson Ltd. and Koko Platz Development Ltd. From 1942 to 1945, he served as a pilot in the Royal Canadian Air Force. Concurrent with his career in provincial politics, he was a city alderman in Portage la Prairie in 1959-60. He was elected to the Manitoba legislature in the 1959 provincial election, defeating incumbent Liberal-Progressive Charles Greenlay by 473 votes in the Portage la Prairie constituency.
