''The Eleventh Commandment'' (Czech: ''Jedenácté přikázání'') is a 1935 Czech comedy film directed by Martin Frič and starring Hugo Haas, Jiřina Štěpničková and Jindřich Plachta. It was shot at the Barrandov Studios in Prague and on location around the city.''Czech Feature Film II: 1930-1945''. Národní filmový archiv, 1995. p. 131 The film's sets were designed by the art director Stepán Kopecký. It is a remake of the 1925 silent film of the same title in which Haas also starred. Synopsis A lawyer who has sworn never to marry is forced to do so when he is accidentally caught in a compromising situation with Emma. After his honeymoon he tries to pretend they are not married when his friends visit. Martin Frič
Martin Frič (29 March 1902 – 26 August 1968) was a Czech film director, screenwriter and actor. He had more than 100 directing credits between 1929 and 1968, including feature films, shorts and documentary films. Throughout his life, Frič struggled with alcoholism. On the day of the Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968, he attempted suicide, after battling cancer. He died in the hospital five days later. Jaroslav Marvan
Jaroslav Marvan (11 December 1901 – 21 May 1974) was a Czechs, Czech actor. He was born in Prague. He was married since the 1920s with Marie Marvanová and had a daughter (Alena Marvanová) with Alena Jančaříková. He passed his school-leaving exam in 1919 and became a member of the Central Office of posts. He was sent to Uzghorod on business matters (1920–1923). He was a member of Vlasta Burian's Theatre 1926–1943, then of the Vinohradské divadlo (1943–1950) and then of the Městská divadla pražská (1950–1954), from where he became a member of the Národní divadlo (National Theatre), where he served for until two years before his death, in 1972. Karel Hašler
Karel Hašler (31 October 1879 in Prague – 22 December 1941 in Mauthausen) was a Czech songwriter, actor, lyricist, film and theatre director, composer, writer, dramatist, screenwriter and cabaretier. He was murdered in the Mauthausen concentration camp. Biography Hašler studied to be a glove-maker, but he became intererested in theatre at a young age and occasionally performed with amateur theatre ensembles. In 1897, following his debut at the ''Aréna Theatre'' he left home and successively joined various travelling theatre companies. Truda Grosslichtová (23 February 1912 – 8 June 1995) was a Czechoslovak film actress. Life Truda Grosslichtová was born Gertruda Marie Grosslichtová in Prague. She spoke Czech, German, French, English and Italian. She acted in amateur theatre, where she was noticed by a producer Josef Auerbach, who cast her both in Czech and German version of his film '' The Affair of Colonel Redl''. She appeared in German and French movies under the name Tania Doll. In 1932 she was voted the most popular actress in Czechoslovakia by Film magazine. Through the 1930s she acted in many Prague theatres. During the war she was forced to work in a factory, because of her partial Jewish origin. In 1945 she married a Dutch soldier Hans de Vries and moved to Amsterdam.
