The Death of Me is the second album by West Coast hip hop artist Ahmad from the label ''WeCLAP''. It is his comeback album after nearly 20 years absence in hip-hop and releasing the single " Back in the Day". Background Ahmad released his platinum single '' Back in the Day'' in 1994 while still in high school. Then he left hip-hop to form the hip-hop, Alternative hip-hop, and neo soul group ''4th Avenue Jones'', got signed to Interscope, got released by Interscope records, quit music again, entered Stanford with a sociology degree, went back to hip-hop and then formed his own music company ''WeCLAP''. Ahmad Ali Lewis (born October 12, 1975), simply known as Ahmad (often stylized AHMAD), is an American rapper, songwriter, motivational speaker and author from Los Angeles, California. He is perhaps best known for the 1994 single " Back in the Day". Ahmad is also a former member and founder of the hip-hop fusion band 4th Avenue Jones. Life and career Ahmad made his recording debut in 1993 on the soundtrack of The Meteor Man with the song "Who Can." "Back in the Day" is a 1994 single by Ahmad. Released when Ahmad was only 18, the song is a nostalgic remembrance of childhood and young teenage years, from a somewhat jaded adult perspective. "Back in the Day" was Ahmad's only major hit single, making it to number 26 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and number 19 on the US R&B chart. Alternative Hip-hop
Alternative hip hop (also known as alternative rap) is a subgenre of hip hop music that encompasses a wide range of styles that are not typically identified as mainstream. 4th Avenue Jones (originally 4th Avenue Jones' and sometimes credited as 4th Ave. Jones') was an American alternative hip hop band based in Los Angeles, California. Dominick Antron Wickliffe (born September 23, 1976), better known by his stage names Crooked I and Kxng Crooked, (stylised as KXNG Crooked and pronounced "King Crooked") is an American rapper from Long Beach, California.
