The Black Light (The Ting Tings Album)
''The Black Light'' is the fourth studio album by English indie pop duo The Ting Tings. It was released on 26 October 2018 by Finca Records. Background and recording The album was written and recorded over a two-year period mostly in Los Angeles and Spain. During the creation of ''The Black Light'' and unlike the band's previous albums, the lyrics were written first and then put to music. Vocalist Katie White and drummer Julian De Martino initially recorded demos in Spain, with an indie rock sound styled after their heroes The Smiths and The Cure but were unhappy with this as they felt it was unrepresentative of their musical intentions for the project. They moved to Los Angeles where they built another new studio, rearranging the songs and re-recording some of the material before finding the resulting sound they searched for. The Smiths

Leeroy Thornhill
Leeroy Thornhill (born 8 October 1968) is a British electronic music artist and formerly a rave dancer and occasional keyboardist for the British electronic group the Prodigy. Thornhill's live performances throughout the 1990s included his unique style of shuffling. He has also recorded under the names Longman and Flightcrank. Life and work Thornhill was born in Barking but raised in Rayne near Braintree in Essex, and grew up as a football and James Brown fan. He joined the Prodigy along with Keith Flint and Maxim Reality after they met Liam Howlett at a local rave club The Barn. Thornhill also contributed occasional live keyboards; however, he did not make any musical contributions to the band's albums. Katie White
Katie Rebecca White (born 18 January 1983) is an English musician and member of the indie pop duo the Ting Tings. After some success with a girl group punk trio TKO, which supported Steps and Atomic Kitten, her father David White brought in Jules De Martino to write songs for TKO. Katie White and De Martino subsequently formed the Ting Tings in 2007. The duo formed a romantic and musical partnership. Early life White was raised on a farm in Lowton with her father David K. White, mother Lynne C. (Sharples) and sister Helena. White went to Lowton High School in Lowton, which has a large performing arts department. Background and recording ''Super Critical'' was written in Ibiza where the band became friends with former Duran Duran guitarist Andy Taylor. The duo rented a rural estate in the village of Santa Gertrudis, where they started writing and recording, before moving to Sonic Vista Studios with Taylor. The album was recorded and mixed at Avatar Studios in New York City on all-analogue equipment.
