That's The Stuff
''That's the Stuff'' is the second studio album by the American rock band Autograph, released in 1985 by RCA Records. The album featured the singles "That's the Stuff" and "Blondes in Black Cars". A different version of the album was reissued in 1986, featuring a blue cover with different artwork. This version featured a cover of Grand Funk Railroad's " We're an American Band" replacing "Six String Fever" as track 6. A remastered version of the original album with the red cover was released by Spitfire Records in 2002, which retained the same track listing as the original, apart from the substitution of "Six String Fever" with " We're an American Band" as track number 6. Since its remastered release in 2002, the CD has become extremely rare. The album was again reissued in 2009 by the British record label Rock Candy. This time, the remastered CD featured the ten original tracks (including "Six String Fever") and "We're an American Band" as a bonus track. The booklet features the ... Autograph was an American hard rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1983. The band is best known for their 1984 hit song " Turn Up the Radio". History Formation and classic years (1983–1989) The group of musicians began playing and recording together, soon taking the form of an actual band. Together, they chose the name "Autograph" while driving from Los Angeles to Jacksonville, Florida, to open for Van Halen in January of 1984. They recorded their first rough demos in late 1983, but played them only for a few close friends. One of them was Andy Johns, a famous record producer who Steve Plunkett had met while helping singer Joe Cerisano produce Silver Condor's second album ''Trouble At Home''. Johns invited the band to re-record and upgrade the demos at the Record Plant Studios for free under his guidance. "We're an American Band" is a song by American Rock music, rock band Grand Funk Railroad. Released on July 2, 1973, from the band's We're an American Band, album of the same name, it became the band's first single to top the ''Billboard'' charts. Written by Don Brewer and produced by Todd Rundgren, its huge chart success broadened Grand Funk's appeal. In a 2023 interview, Brewer said the song, which stitches together snippets of events from the band's touring life, was written in an effort to garner the band more hits as FM radio stations were transitioning into singles-oriented formats. According to Brewer, the song was not a rebuke to British band Humble Pie, who Grand Funk had previously toured with. It is the 99th song on VH1's list of the 100 Greatest Hard Rock Songs. Don Brewer
Donald George Brewer (born September 3, 1948) is an American drummer and singer who is a founding member and longtime original drummer of the rock band Grand Funk Railroad. Early life Brewer was born in Flint, Michigan, on September 3, 1948, the son of Clara Eileen (née Waterman) and Donald A. Brewer, and is a graduate of Swartz Creek High School. Early career Brewer started his first band, called The Red Devils, at the age of 12. After leaving The Red Devils, Brewer formed another band named the Jazzmasters for whom he played drums and sang. The River Rat
''The River Rat'' is a 1984 independent family film directed by Thomas Rickman and starring Tommy Lee Jones and Martha Plimpton. Steve Lynch (born January 18, 1955) is an American guitarist. He is best known as the co-founder and lead guitarist of the glam metal/hard rock band Autograph (American band), Autograph, which formed in 1983. He decided to commit himself to music and mastering guitar when Jimi Hendrix died in 1970. In addition to Hendrix, Lynch's influences came from late-1960s and early-1970s rock musicians such as Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and the Beatles. He initially played bass, however Hendrix's death in 1970 influenced him to switch to guitar.
