Thani Bin Mohammad
Thani bin Mohammed () also known as Thani bin Mohammed Al Thamir (), was the Hakim of the Qatari Peninsula. Early life He was born in Zubarah and emerged as a successful pearl trader. In 1748 the Al Thani family moved from Fuwayrit to Doha, the capital city of Qatar. He died in 1825. By the early 1825s, his second eldest son Sheikh Mohammed bin Thani emerged as the most important figure in Qatar and an important government official in the Persian Gulf. History The Al Thani family can be traced back to Mudar ibn Nizar, a descendant of Ishmael. The tribe moved from the Najdi town of Ushaiger and settled at the Gebrin oasis in southern Najd (present-day Saudi Arabia) before they moved to Qatar. Najd
Najd is a Historical region, historical region of the Arabian Peninsula that includes most of the central region of Saudi Arabia. It is roughly bounded by the Hejaz region to the west, the Nafud desert in Al-Jawf Province, al-Jawf to the north, ad-Dahna Desert in Al-Ahsa Governorate, al-Ahsa to the east, and Rub' al Khali, Rub' al-Khali to the south, although its exact boundaries cannot be determined due to varying geographical and political limits throughout history. Ushaiger
Ushaiqer (Arabic: أشيقر) is a small village near Shaqra in Saudi Arabia. It is north-west of Riyadh. Ushaiqer is one of the oldest towns in the Saudi region of Najd and it was a major stopping point for pilgrims coming from Kuwait, Iraq and Iran to perform Hajj or Umrah. It was originally known as A'ekel but the name was eventually changed to Ushaiqer. It was changed because the town is bordered by a small mountain north of the village. The mountain is red in color, yet locals said it was blonde simply because red and blonde were used interchangeably in the old days. Ushaiqer means the "Small Blonde", which is a description of that particular mountain. Historical Ushaiqer belongs to the Tamim tribe although other tribes lived there as well.
